I do agree with you Giggle. Whilst we all are probably more than happy to use "own" brands ourselves people get really funny about buying branded nappies in a cake. My only theory is with something like nappies the majority of parents would only use branded ones themselves so people don't want to give own brand ones as gifts in case they don't use them. Also people want their gifts to be perceived as generous and I think the own brand nappy doesn't really convey that. I'm only guessing that most parents use branded as amongst my own group of friends, relatives and colleagues with babies I don't know any of them that have used anything other than huggies or pampers (that might say more about the people I mix with than branded nappies though!:rotfl:)

Thanks for your replies. I'm happy to use branded nappies but don't like the patterns/designs on them. They seem to be mostly blue which spoils pink nappy cakes!! I'd like some that are plain or with patterns that don't show once the nappies are rolled up!

Thanks for the advice with the nappies ladies.. I did get loads of packs of the Asda ones.. They have been selling in my 'budget' range of nappy cakes.

Ohhh.. How do you add photos on here!? I cannot figure it out lol!!

    Hiya,

I really miss the old huggies which were mainly white, i agree the patterns spoil the colour effect. Having said that i still stick to mainly huggies for cakes and nearly always on my son, smply cos they tend to fit best! However i have bought 3 packs of ASDA £1 nappies for my expected new arrival to try.

Pampers simply dry are mostly white, also pampers active fit are purpleish which looks nicer on a pink cake!

Just had a call to say I'm not allowed to attend the ONLY craft fayre in the area as my gifts arn't classed as home made!! She said 'we only sell complete home made local crafts, you should try a baby fayre!'

    Im heartbroken :(

Thats very unfair, most hand made gifts are produced from products that are already made, like if you knit you dont make the wool or jewellery making is made from beads that have already been cut.A nappy cake is made from ready made nappies but the creation and end result is hand made theres no machine involed (all though would love a nappy rolling machine lol) its there loss hun,but i can understand its dissapointing for you xX

O.k I've sent her a load of photos and explained they wouldn't sell at Baby Fayres as a mother would not buy a nappy cake for herself.

I've also asked if they expect card makers to make their paper themselves? As how come it's ok for them to sell 'bought' products.

Also said Ive visited the fayre on many occasions to see what it was like and think it would be hugely suitable for my 'gifts'

Hope you get somewhere with it, the only one I have had a problem with is a WI ran craft market they seem to have funny ideas as what they class to be home made and the same deal they allow loads of card makers at them! I wonder can any one thing of a craft where everything is actually home made lol they happily accept the people selling cakes and jams at the one I couldnt go to but those ladies are not making their ingredients!
