    Hi irlrip,

I have photos too but for instance, someone phoned the other day - did I have any blue 3 tiers. I said I had 2 but then she changed her mind and said she might have a 2 tier (I had 2 of those as well)

Anyway, she came a couple of hours later and had a 3 tier, but she wanted to see the others too.

Now, I had 8 3 tiers made up and 5 2,s so there is no way I could cart them all downstairs.

Maybe I should have just shown her the 2 cakes.

I'm lucky that I have a spare bedroom made over to this but I wish I could organise somewhere downstairs where people can have a look.
I don't think the shed would send the right image out! Do you? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Emma83 What a beautiful cake! Well done!

  • Hiya everyone,

I am in the middle of setting up my website. I was just wondering.. Do you make the cakes up then take photos to sell the ones you have made up?

OR should I take photos in general (eg. 1tier - blue, 3 tier pink etc)

I was thinking about making some up, do I take photos then sell the ones I have made up or do you do a general design and say that the contents may vary?

I was just thinking, if I made sample ones up, what if I couldn't get the particular teddy etc that was on it?? Should I make them up and sell them as I make them? Take photos for website etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you so much xx

    Hi Pink Mummy,

I dont have a website or anything as i only make for friends and family, but i do have a small photo album of cakes, which contains different size cakes and colours and i have a little introduction in the front of the book, within that it explains designs may vary eg.teddies and ribbon etc. Then when they chose a cake and i make it up they know that it wont look exactly like the one in the photo but as close as stock will allow!.With your website it maybe an idea to make up sample cakes for photos so you can get going and if you have space to store them im sure the will sell, and just explain that cake designs may vary once you have sold them and have to make more.

Dont no if thats of any use or just a load of waffle lol,but good luck with you website
