  • I've gone and done it - I've made my first cake, a bathtime one. Considering the topic that is going on at the moment I'm not sure about the ribbon. Got the towel from Asda's for £4, I want to make a girls one but can't find any towels the same price - any ideas?

We'll I'm back from the bootsale and it wasn't a complete success but it may lead to some more sales. Only managed to sell 2 of the 7 cakes that I took (1 small one and 1 larger one sold) but had loads of nice comments and quite a lot of people took business cards.
I was pleasantly suprised that people didn't run a mile when I told them how much they were. I was charging £7 for a small one (15 nappies, 1 muslin and a toy) and £15-19 for a larger, 2 tier one (approx 30 nappies, blanket, muslin and toy).

I did a car boot back in the spring, didn't sell much on the day (a few small gifts) it was the first fair et i had done i ran out of leaflets (about 60) and i have since had several orders from them :-)

I could do several fairs this xmas however i have trouble getting a baby sitter especially if they are all day. Our friends always offer however if it was from 8.30 till 5.30 and it was cos i was "working" i would feel that i should pay them. and i cant return the favour cos they all havefamily that baby sit lots.

Barry has his own shop (opened in april) so works 6 1/2 days a week, we aren't taking any wages yet, so we are struggling time & money wise. One plus is that i have taken over 2 shelves in the shop (car parts & accessories so a bit random!) and barry is really good at pointing them out and giving leaflets!

Cos i'm doing all the paperwork 4 the shop, making nappy cakes and trying to keep the house clean & tidy, Joseph (11 months) is starting Nursery 2moro. Hes going 1 am & 1 pm a week, cant really afford it but tax credits pay for some of it.

Also i have some good news which will add to the work load, I'm expecting Number 2 @ the end of April :-) So i have to clear out my office/craft room and move everything to the cupboard under the stars have a small desk in the lounge!

Appologies 4 the long post LOL

  • :beer:Congratulations JOJO! I have missed out on a few fairs due to no real day babysitters that I would not feel guilty about leaving the boys with. Am knackered the whole time at mo with doing all the xmas fairs, trying to decorate and keep house and 2 under 3 1/2! Fun fun fun.;)

WOW, WOW and WOW again!!! I Love it, even the ribbon is amazing! Can I ask how much it cost to make as there is so much in it?

Not too sure how much it cost - will try and work it out!! Cos it was for my gorgeous Isaac as a present from us and not to sell I didn't really think about the cost - think it prob did end up costing quite a bit but he's worth it cos I love him!!! Some of the bits were reduced in Boots so saved some pennies there!
