It certainly is a great feeling - thanks.
I once showed someone pictures of a cake and they said it was the freakiest thing they had ever seen and wouldn't give one as a gift even if they were free!!!

Hi and Congratulations :T
Maybe you could make one yourself i started making nappy cakes when my grandson was due and i couldn't find a "Different" gift to give.If you don't want to make one yourself there is a few people on this thread who make nappy cakes or you could google Nappy Cakes,
Hope this helpsLorraine x0 -

Aw Emma, that's awfulPost a pic of one of your cakes, I bet they aren't cheap or tacky looking!
Some ppl have a real problem with handmade gifts, be it nappy cakes or whatever. Unless it's made in China, some folk don't want to know.
Try not let it upset you too much. For that one person that doesn't like Nappy Cakes there will be 5 or more that do. xxx"There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -

Hope everyones fairs went well!
Almond, Congrats on your news of a grandson. I know how you feel, as I had a little grandson last January and was secretly hoping for a girl. I do tend to prefer boys but with having an only son - anyway, it didn't take any time at all to get over my dissapointment (in secret!) He is just so lovely and I wouldn't swap him for the world.
I have to ask - what are the "cubes" you are making?
Emma, Your cake is absolutely gorgeous - no way could it be called "tacky" It sounds to me like the person who said it could be suffering from "the green eyed monster"0 -
hi emma, i think your cake is great, if i was having a baby i would be over the moon to recieve it. I've got severe ME and last year had improved enough to do the occasional thing, I thought I would do some handmade gifts for people for christmas as i thought people would appricate the effort it took compaired to just buying something online, but my 'best friend' said that everyone would just think i was being cheep, then insulted my chocolates by saying they were as basic as you could get (coconut truffle coated in chocolate and drizzed with a different coloured choc), i also felt deflated at the time, its horrible when you go to a lot of effort then get comments like you did. i think moonpenny is right about the green eyed monster, i bet she never got given anything like that if/when she had kids and wouldnt even know how to start making one!Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
