Another game of Freezer Tetris has been had, and I can freeze nothing else. I need to learn to resist bargains!! At least I now know when to go to the shops to pick up reduced bread, which is saving me a good amount of cash and means that I am eating better as I am buying wholegrain etc instead of basic white bread for the same price.

I'm also learning that just because it's "use by" today I won't combust if I use it tomorrow :rotfl: My new aim is to make it until the weekend without buying more than milk, bread or fruit. I do not need more meat :D
  • another £9.42 today. nappies and milk for dd and 2 birthday cards - they have to come out of the grocery budget as there's no money anywhere else! sig has been updated. Meal plan has been done for the week so shouldn't need to spend anything else other than milk.

    Hello all!
Still not spent a penny of June's budget but it does help that I'm in the US and not at home! I stocked up on stuff for OH to plough his way through whilst I'm away and anything else he needs/wants comes out of his own pocket!

I'll be back on Friday and will probably need to do a mega shop then as he'll have eaten me out of house and home!

So at the weeknd let the spending commence!

    Evening all

Well there was a change to the planned shop -I figured that as we had to go past LIDL today we may as well stop off and get the bits I would be getting at the weekend ;)-a bonus as we will save petrol, plus I try to avoid shopping at a weekend like the plague :D
so I ended up with -
    • 3 huge red peppers €1.19
    • 4x1lt fresh milk @ 48c
    • 2xsesame crispbreads @ 49c-hubby loves them ...
    • pack feta
    • 2 packs butter @ 65c
    • iceberg 69c
    • 2 blocks fresh yeast @ 9c
    • 3kg braeburns €2.49 -lets see if I can make them last until the weekend :p
    • the biggest mooli I have ever seen 99c -much better value than raddishes -until mine are ready :j
    • 2x2lt lemon ice tea @ 59c
    • 2x2lt peach ice tea @ 59c -not strictly "needed" but I don't buy any pop, don't drink alcohol and so sometimes fancy a change to fizzy water
    • 24x1.4lt bottles fizzy water @19c
so after I had handed over the ticket for all the bottles I took back (€6.25)i spent a total of €11.67 :T. That lot plus what I have in should easily take us to the end of next week -bar perhaps a bit more milk...
so that will be €14.02 at the end of week 2 :rotfl:..
I think that when the 3rd weeks shop happens I will need a few more bits than this week -but we will see ;) .... hubby has got the bug-I wandered around the ice cream freezers today and asked him if he wanted anything? -his reply? "NO thanks -we are being frugal" :rotfl:
hope everyone is having a good week -its that hot here its crazy... glad I got a hose pipe for the veggies -I would never have kept up with a watering can :p..and as my first tiny tomato is on Im all excited:D
right Im off to bed and will update my signature in the morning ...
    -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.5

What's washing gloop? I've seen it mentioned a few times now.
I use those washer-balls from the ecoball company - I'm still not sure about them, anybody else use them?
They were £30 and are supposed to last 1000 washes!
I also use them and Im also not sure about them. If its really grubby I use powder-if it needs a nice smell I use liquid and if its barely dirty then "balls"!
I know I can add something for a nice smell if I stick around for the final rinse and I dont use softeners-never needed them and they smell too strong. Unfortunatley the eco balls dont give the fresh smell of powder. I sometimes wonder if just using water would be the same-regardless of the scientific details! Sometimes I think we are all being "blinded with science" as my dear Dad used to say!

Ahhh I completely agree, I always think that some things aren't coming up as clean as they would with the normal stuff. My mum also thinks it's the same as just doing it with water!!

I've never used powder/liquid in my machine, I got the balls with my first washing machine :) because the man in the shop scared me about the water hardness in the area!

However, I especially don't like using the balls with our towels.. I don't know why! I may have to get some liquid..

On a note more related to the thread - I was doing so well with my spends (only £3.41!), then OH comes home and tells me he spent £3.05 on his lunch!!! :( reluctantly updated my siggy..

Finally finished the meal plan for the next 2 weeks. I must be really out of practice as I started it yesterday afternoon and just finished it now! I have slipped in a few lighter and cheaper meals like soup and salad with sarnies for dinner and only need fruit, salad etc.

Nipped on to mysupermarket to check out what the spend would be and nearly fell over - £17 for salad, fruit, milk and feta cheese!!

I need to go pay a cheque in at my bank on saturday and there is a F&V shop on the same street so I am going to try that as last time we went past he had some really great prices on bananas and strawbs. I usually go to Mr S for convenience but with only £40 left in the budget I need to be making a bit more of an effort to spend it carefully. Will still need to go to Mr S for milk and feta.

Got some vinegar and lime peel in the dishwasher on a hot wash to clean it following advice from the OS peeps. Can't wait ot see how it comes out! Oh! I am sad:o
