  • ok, just to make sure all ends of the sectrum are covered I will post my figures - not to brag (so please no flaming :silenced:). It is what it is:

Basic gross pay is currently £24,000 per month or £288,000 per year. I also have a variable element which last year was around £200,000. So in total just under £500,000 per annum gross. Net is around half of that.

    I am an accountant.

I haven't been earning that sort of money for a long time and have had a couple of significant financial disasters, but I am now pouring money into savings with the hope of retiring early.

For anyone who is interested I can share with you some more details of how I got there and what are some of the pitfalls to avoid.

Which bank and what was the safe code? :D

Trainee solicitor in London, £19,500 pa but pro rated as I only work 3 days a week (so think it works out approx £12k).

Out of that I spend £500 a month on childcare

I also have to take the LPC to qualify which is costing me £12k over two years

Luckily my husband earns enough to pay the rent :D

    Age : 30

    Location : S Wales

Job : Civil Servant (HEO / B3 - have been there for 11 years)

Salary : £25,549 - currently on a pay freeze, no bonus, no rewards, no chance of progression due to recruitment freeze! Although I'm looking to leave and start afresh.

Perks : Pension scheme (a bit rubbish), 35 days holiday, sick pay, Flexible working. Special pay with leave for domestic emergencies.

Cons : Contantly changing policies, too many projects, too many knee jerk reactions. Frustrating and demoralizing at times. oh and my cheating ex works here and it's hard to see them all the time - but that's another story for an entirely different thread!!!
  • wow people here have a lots of money.
