Great thread!
I earn £25k as a researcher but it is Pro-rated as I am part time.
OH earns £78k plus PRB, car and family health care as a acquisitions and operations director... like few other posters he would like to give it up and start off on his own- he travels internationally 2 weeks out of 4 which is crap but it pays the $$'s and our BA point balance is AMAZING.0 -
interesting reading...
me and hubby own our own shop, just worked out we earn between us about £9k a year.
No not messing about.
I can believe you. I'm a Director for family company (engineering) l earn approx £10k plus a few bonuses here and there, working for yourself doesn't always provide a huge wage even though we're very busy and successful. Hubby is in manufacturing £20K

I feel quite guilty actually. I earn £38k. I have to say I do work for it, long hours and stress but I am sure you can earn £15k and still say the same. I feel guilty because I realise how I have mismanaged my money. I've don't have much to show for it. have to say my partner earns very little so I suppliment heavily because he helps out other ways.
I remember meeting someone who works in IT (as I do) on the shop floor of the stock exchange and he 'claimed' to earn about £90k (from memory) which feels staggering. I asked him how much he managed to save each month and he said nothing! he gave various reasons etc.
What would have been interesting would be the question - what do you earn and how much do you save each month !0 -

I earn £40/ hr as a part time uni lecturer. Sounds good- but try standing up in fr'nt of 100 fresh young minds for an hour- all the prep and marking etcThe truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

OH made redundant earlier in year, still unemployed and because I earn too much (!) he doesn't qualify for Income Based JSA.
DD is doing her A levels and doesn't qualify for ESA because we were both working 2008/9 and joint earnings (40k) put us over the limit for her to claim ESA.
Finding it a challenge to keep 3 adults on this wage but unemployment is so high in my area I am happy to have this job.:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls
