I know exactly how you feel. I'm in a dead end admin job and I'm only on 14k but I'm 37years old so quite a bit older than you. I am looking at going to Uni again to get a second degree or a Master's as I think doing so will open up more doors.
It's really depressing reading about how much other people are making especially all the younger ones. I am in Northern England so I know the wages are lower and there aren't made jobs available.
Have you thought about an NVQ in Business Administration??? Won't be complete loss of your work experience that way:D
I'm thinking of this mainly coz I like the hours, I'd love to train as a midwife but not sure how practical the hours will be when I have a family
Either way, I still can't afford uni so its all a pipe dream for the time being:rolleyes::rolleyes:1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

Some weeks bring home over a grand, others not even £250.... but I can't grumble!
Downside - no pension, no sick pay (strangely though I've only been off sick for 1 day in 6 years!) and I find it hard to take time off as always worrying about where the next job will come from..0 -

I'm 35 years old and am a classroom support worker in a college, earn approx 8000 a year.
Lows - low wage
Highs - lots of holidays although on fixed term contract so not paid for summer hols,(10 weeks)! Completely love my job and find it very satisfying
I think some on here should consider themselves very lucky financially and I expect they do and have worked hard for it

I'm 31 and a Marketing Manager in London on £45k. 25 days holiday, private healthcare after 2 years. I used to earn more as a contractor on a day rate but took a permanent job when the credit crunch began for fear of being out of work!0

working for the london underground as a tube driver/ station supervisor capacity is probably the best job i can think off
you got a good union, good pay, excellent pension, good holidays etc. it's quite a hard job to get into, as theres rarely vacancys for the operational roles. its deffinately a job for life though i think
