Sorry, missed some responses to my post in this thread a few pages ago.

Motorguy - thank you for feeling the need to research my posts in the forum. With regards to the £35 exit fee, where did I say that I couldn't pay it? All I asked was when I could switch without paying it. I did a comparison and found a tariff that would save me approx £50 a year. I didn't see the point in paying £70 to switch for a £50 saving. Just because I earn a lot of money doesn't mean that I'm not entitled to save myself a few pounds here and there. That's partly what got me into this mess in the first place! With regards to your estimate of my take home pay being £5,700 a month, I have absolutely no idea how you came to that figure. I am a 40% tax payer and have an employer pension. My take home pay doesn't even hit £4,000. You are however correct in saying that we have a lot of other outgoings. These were other debts (mainly my partners catalogues and a few other things) with high interest rates but were not on a debt management plan. We paid off the vast majority of those now, so the amount we pay to our creditors on the plan now is much higher than £600. Between us, we've paid about £14K in debt off this year, excluding the mortgage.

Guitar man - it depends which company you work for. I only have experience of 1 (the main one in the country) and the amount you get paid depends entirely on how busy that unit is. I.e the busier units get paid more than the quieter ones. The longer you work in the company, the more you get paid. I've been doing the job since I was 18 and qualified at 21. To get to those "senior" positions described in that article, you need to have been qualified for approximately 10 years. If you happen to be at the busier units, then you can earn up to 100k. The quieter units tend to top out at about 70K. I work at the busiest unit within the company, therefore my salary is relatively high for someone who has been qualified for almost 4.5 years. (Each pay increase works out between 2-4k per year until you reach the top). I would look into it if I was you. It's a great career to get into :-)

I have also worked from home for the past 18 months so get company mobile, computer and expenses (internet, landline, home allowance, used petrol etc). Usually works out at around ~£100/month extra.

Overall, i think i'm in one of the higher brackets for my age and experience in the industry. I'm only 27 and have only been professional for 6 years.

So, to clarify, you're on £87000 a year, but you're on a debt management plan - which would normally encompass all personal debt, and therefore the bulk of your spare cash - but you only have to pay back £600 a month.

It would take some serious effort to be on get yourself in the sort of debt that would force you down the route of a DMP and be on £87,000 a year.

Also, you baulk at paying back a £35 fee. Seems odd for someone whos on so much?

Also, its the 31st Jan but you've paid back £14,000 in debt this year?

Yeah right. I think you're confusing "living the dream" with "living in a dream"

Given the antagonistic comment above, and the fact you've been claiming benefits for 20 years, can you see the irony in you calling someone an unemployed troll?

I think your situation is a good example of how !!!!ed up this country has become - you've been claiming benefits for 20 years, have never had a paid job, but instead chose to do some charity work for "free" (but claiming "travel allowance") but seem to think this gives you some sort of moral high ground over the rest of us who have actually went to the trouble of finding gainful paid employment rather than relying on handouts from the benefits system

Yes of course I have the moral high ground.

I'm the one in fulltime work who makes a lot of difference to many people in need.

    You're an unemployed waster.
