If you ask for three opinions in here, you'll get four.

I have the Dell Mini 9 and it's very, very good.

Win XP took up about 3.5GB, leaving ~4GB free for applications so you could easily put MS Office on there and keep documents on that drive. You still have the flexibility of adding an 8 or 16GB SDHC card into it for extra storage.

Replacing the SSD was a case of taking 8 screws out, very easy to do and you could fetch a 16GB SSD on Ebay for about £40-£50 if you wanted to extend it that way
  • I notice that in Tesco Extra they have the Dell Mini 9 with 160 gb hard drive for £299, the same price I had paid for my Samsung NC10. I bought the Samsung over the SSD Mini 9, as I wanted a proper HD, which the NC10 has. It's a great machine, and does everything I require of it. Personally I would go for XP, with a HD over an SSD anytime. But thats just me...

    Flo,

I have one myself and it fine for day to day browsing. I expanded the memory with an HDSD card for saving any large files (xp takes up about 5 of the available 8 gb, so not much space left for storage. Do you have mobile broadband too? I think it's great for that as its full integrated etc.

Hope you get on ok with it

You can free up an additional ~1GB by disabling Hibernation.

If you right click on the recycle bin and select properties, you can change the amount of space reserved for it. It might not make much difference on such a small drive, but you should be able to free up a few extra hundred megabytes.
