If you have nothing constructive to say can you please not say anything, thankyou.
I replied very early on in the thread with:Here's their complaints procedure.
If I've read right, she's £50 out of pocket, but did actually have the benefit of that £50 as she's spent it elsewhere.
While you can start the bidding at £50 I really don't see that she has lost anything. An apology for the !!!!-up and a tenner sounds more than fair to me.
Did a !!!!-up actually happen? Or did your girlfriend misunderstand what was said?
It seems the subsequent posts believe my tenner is on the optimistic side.
You say the slip proves that they didn't do what they said they'd do. That's fine, they should put that right.
If your girlfriend returns the money she's withdrawn from the account they will be able to do this.
While not for a second excusing the mal-administration by the bank concerned, your girlfriend really needs to keep a closer eye on the money in her bank account.
She seems to be using her finances like a child running off to the sweet shop to spend all his pocket money.0 -
This thread has made my morning
Now I'm off to the bank to cashi n my cheque for tax refund :T0 -
i'm off to the bank for compensation because i've spent too much money this month. They let me spend it and must surely be responsible!!

The bank involved have not ballsed up per se, it is down to an employee who has made an error, human error. I bet everyone on here has made an error at work. Most of the other replies on here pretty much sum things up very well.0

This is no-where near £100 compensation territory.
Maybe £10, at a push. I hope Natwest are so dumb as to give her anything for this. I'd love to read the FOS reply on it if you tried to take it that far. What would William Shatner do?0 -
FOS reply be along the lines of stop wasting our time please??0

A lot of them actually have some pretty good senses of humour.
I've seen the FOS decide that a customer's claim for £4,000+ was invalid and they should get £150-ish... so maybe in this case they'd award £1?What would William Shatner do?0 -
Like I said she had the money lined up for a holiday which she can now not afford.I appreciate what your saying about her not being out of pocket but she was saving the money up like I said, now because the bank haven't carried out an instuction which she has in writing from the bank she is out of pocket?I dont believe she will get all the money back but a reasoable amount of compensation I believe is owed as they have left my GF out of pocket on her holiday money.
She hasn't lost a penny, a quick check at the ATM or online would have shown that the money wasn't transferred to the new account. Do you not feel she has ANY responsibilty to check her accounts toi make sure her instructions have been carried out?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Surely she can find a deal for the same holiday destination for £50 cheaper?
Not everyone is going to sell a holiday for the same price. Unless the holiday costs £50 and £50 is all she saved, i dont understand how she cant go on holiday?
It might be the banks fault that the money was not put into the correct account when stated but its not their fault that the money was spend. The money didnt mysteriously dissapear into thin air (in which case i would want a refund), the money was simply spent by the person who owned the money so no loss to customer so no refund needed.
Maybe an apology for inconvenience and a note to keep tabs on your account
