If you apply in branch within 30 mins you will know if you been accepted and then receive the card within 10 working days. Therefore none of this waiting weeks etc

So can non-customers go into branch and apply for the card or is this specific to shabbey [STRIKE]mugs[/STRIKE] customers? You also have to bear in mind not everyone likes getting told no to their face - i'd much rather get told to sod off via message on my PC or letter in the post!

Also, can you advise whether shabbey will get decision if it requires a referral or does that mean the usual 'we'll let you know in 7-10 days' or can they ring through and get instant answer?

    cheers

So generally is applying in-branch the best option? (wondering now if I want an abbey card though)

I finally got mine last Wednesday so it took 5 weeks in all.
I suppose 5 weeks isn't too long a wait but it's just the lack of communication from ABBEY that's makes the whole process so frustrating, especially when you try calling them to find out what's going on and they just don't seem to have a clue!

Anyways I got mine now with a limit of £3k so good luck fellow applicants.

Can you apply in branch if you have already applied online?

I would like to know too: I just applied online this morning, hoping to have a balance transferred before the 20th of July. I realize now, seeing this thread that it might have been a mistake. Not sure what to do now. Can I apply to other cards asking for the same balance transfer? Or as dave461 suggests, go into a branch and reapply there?

I applied a few days ago. No response yet, but reading here I can see why.

    Their website says this:

Already applied for an Santander Zero Credit Card recently?
If you have recently applied for an Santander Credit Card and want to check on the progress of your application please call our Application Queries line on 0845 603 9820 (7am to 11pm, Mon-Sat)

I was about to get the Post Office card, so my family could use it when on holiday this summer. On Martin's recommendation I applied for the Abbey Zero card. I hope it was a good choice. Fingers crossed.

Thinking of heading in to an Abbey branch in next few days to apply.

    * Presume I can do this as a non-customer (except of cahoot)
    * Usual IDs sufficient (driving license with photo, bank card, bank statement)? or do I need something else
    * Are the staff keyed up on the process for the 15month card?
    * Presumably it doesn't take too long?

Actually bother, tomorrow is 10am opening so will have to be Thu or Sat

Followups - if I want to do a BT do I need to provide details there/then, or afterwards?
    Will this likely affect
    a) credit limit
    b) How long end-end to get card
    c) How soon the BT can be completed

If a BT is done once the card is arrived, how long does this typically take? Presumably it's only to pay other (non santander) cards not bank account.

I complained after they declined my Santander Zero Credit Card application and did not even write to tell me.

Long story short, telephoning their Complaints Department (0845 600 6014) and writing to Antonio Horta-Osorio, Chief Executive has had no impact.

I always go for the best deals, but they have actually made me want to get a worse deal elsewhere just for the service!

I'm going elsewhere for a worse deal just so I get better service. My issue is with a business acount though. Amongst other issues, it's now 29 days since a customer bounced a £20 chequre on me and in spite of me regularly phoning Abbey, I've yet to receive the cheque back so that I can find out which customer it was. Pathetic bunch of !!!!!! at Abbey. I'm gradually shifting my business elsewhere. I'm happy to pay a bit for a service if it means I actually get a service. Loads of other issues too re business banking but I don't want to take the thread more away from the topic than I already have.
