Hi there,

About 5/6 weeks ago I applied for an Abbey CC online (for a 0% bt card). I still haven't heard anything from them, not even an acknowledgement of the application.

Has anyone applied with them recently? Is this normal for Abbey? About 8/9 months ago I applied for a Tesco card and was declined, but I heard back within weeks which is why I'm a bit confuzzled!

Thanks :)

  • Hi,

I also applied for the Abbey 0% card a while back and still recieved nothing after 5weeks, so i phoned them yesterday and apparently there swamped with people wanting the cards it's taking longer than normal to process. But the lady i spoke to said she would put a trace on kine and try to speed it up.

You should maybe give them a ring

I had applied on the 13th and when I called them up today I was told that instructions have been sent to some internal department to send me the paperwork which I should receive in another 7-10 days. At least Abbey is consistent with being always slow to action anything:rolleyes:
  • Apply in branch and you will find out straight away if you have passed. If it is refered then within 48 hours you will know.

I applied for one ages ago and after around 4 weeks they sent me a letter stating that my address doesn't match their records and I need to fill out a form - fair enough - but I do not have an account with them for them to be matching me with anyone!

Decided to ignore the letter and forget about it, customer service does not seem to be their strong point!

Thats well weird, I had the exact thing when I got in - lol. Wanted me to go into a branch and change my address - I rung and said how can I change my address when i've never banked with you before! They refused to speak to me cos I failed security - eh? It is my ruddy application, I shouted....

Suffice to say, nothing I can do except write a very long letter - on page 3 right now and still going! I am not happy if they have linked me to someone that shares my name!

I mean its a joke, how can I go to a branch and change my address when ermmm, i've never lived there in the first place - actually, come to think of it - lived where? I can't change an address from something i've never lived at and don't know! LOL

Anyway, i'll post developments once letter sent...... not holding my breath though!

I wonder whether they send this to people they cannot electronically verify? Maybe its their way of getting to 'see us in person' prior to making an assessment? Who knows.....

Can I ask, did you recently move or are you not on electoral register or even better, have you got a cifas marker or any baddies shown on your credit file? Lets see if there is a link somewhere... :p
