Wanted me to go into a branch and change my address - I rung and said how can I change my address when i've never banked with you before! They refused to speak to me cos I failed security - eh? It is my ruddy application, I shouted....
Suffice to say, nothing I can do except write a very long letter - on page 3 right now and still going! I am not happy if they have linked me to someone that shares my name!
I mean its a joke, how can I go to a branch and change my address when ermmm, i've never lived there in the first place - actually, come to think of it - lived where? I can't change an address from something i've never lived at and don't know! LOL
Anyway, i'll post developments once letter sent...... not holding my breath though!
I wonder whether they send this to people they cannot electronically verify? Maybe its their way of getting to 'see us in person' prior to making an assessment? Who knows.....
Can I ask, did you recently move or are you not on electoral register or even better, have you got a cifas marker or any baddies shown on your credit file? Lets see if there is a link somewhere...
Something strange going on at Abbey if you ask me, recently they refused to speak to my wife after saying she had failed security, I was sat next to her so I went through the same security questions for the same account (joint) and sailed through no problem. I then asked if my wife could take over the call as it was a joint account but they refused to talk to her as she had failed security, I explained the details were the same apart from obviously her own date of birth which I heard her say correctly so they were completely wrong. They said she needed to go into her local branch to find out the details of where she had failed security. The next day my wife went into the local branch and they had no information about the telephone call whatsoever
She then made a transfer into her ISA from our joint account which is what we had initially wanted to do over the phone, but when I checked online a few days later the money hadn't gone out. We waited a few more days until she eventually went in 10 days after and complained. She tried again and when I checked online the same afternoon it went straight out.
I applied for the Abbey card on may 5th and was told on the 20th when I rang that my application had been approved and the agreement was in the post.
I just rang again and the man said he was going to "put a chaser on it" and it should be with me in 7-10 working days.
These people are hopeless and really slow, not to mention complete idiots, they just don't seem to be able to communicate to the customer or each other.
What a shoddy outfit
I'd better sign off now before this turns into a rant:D0 -

Just to give Abbey a bit of credit mine was done and dusted in a couple of weeks from application, although I got some advice to make sure you get the ID selection bang on with your current details and photo or they can mess about back and forth with security and the like. Hope it gets sorted out soon for you. It's always darkest before the dawn.

Nice to see they are consistent in being rubbish! I have been at the same address for over 3 years and got myself on the electoral role the minute we moved in! No baddies on my credit report.
I was tempted to pursue it and see what was going on but got hubby to apply for a Virgin card instead (I've already got one) and just forgot about it.
Be interested to see how you get on0 -
Well I thought I'd update this - I rang Abbey today (didn't get round to it before) and they said that they had sent a letter out on the 18th of May
Well I didn't get one for definite, but I checked the address they had and it was correct so i have no idea what happened with that.
Anyway, it was declined but I mentioned to the guy on the phone that I had noticed that my credit file was stating that I was not on the electoral roll when actually I am and I have now got this changed. He has given me a number to ring to see if I can find out why it was declined and possibly appeal against it.
So, we'll see how it goes...
xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
I eventually got my letter in the post and it says I have been conditionally accepted, no idea what the credit limit is yet but I hope it's a decent amount.
Not sure if the stuff I got was the original or just the result of me constantly calling them to complain it hadn't arrived.
Anyone know how long it takes for the card to arrive after returning the signed agreement?0 -

wouldn't conditionally accepted mean similar to Natwest, i.e. they could yet decline you when they manually assess you upon receipt of your signed forms?
Thats what natwest do and loads get declined after going so far though thinking they'd been accepted.2010 - year of the troll

It was Natwest - yet the following week when I was in branch , they offered me 100% certain loan up to £10k - I was shown the screen , when I asked why I was refused the c/c , I was told maybe as it was revolving credit?!>?0

If you apply in branch within 30 mins you will know if you been accepted and then receive the card within 10 working days. Therefore none of this waiting weeks etc0
