    Hi Nalahking,
I have just read you post.
I am not an expert like so many on here but I will do my best to help you.
I will answer your questions in the number order you have written.

    1. Sadly no. Even though your local mag court is useless you have to direct all questions/queries through them. REMO get very narked if you contact them directly. Trust be I have tried and been told off!!

2.If the papers were only sent to REMO on 13th December 2011 I doubt if they have been sent to France yet! REMO have a 30 day turn around with paperwork and they miss that alot of the time. Once your papers have been sent to France things hopefully will start to happen. When this has been done you will know who in France is dealing with your application. If you speak Freanch you would do well to establish contact directly with them as they may communicate with you directly and keep you posted. Many of us on here have done the same as the chain of communication is so slow. It can take upto two months to receive any correspondence as all papers have to go through REMO who in turn forward them to your court who pass them on to you!!

    3. Yes .Yes and yes. The REMO process is slow and more than a little frustrating but it is worth it in the end. There are success stories on here and like yourself alot of applications ongoing. Dont give up just be patient. I know you have been waiting for over a year to get what seems like no where but things are in the pipeline and remember good things come to those who wait!!!
    Keep your chin up

  • Many thanks nco41 - you've made me feel better about it all. There really is so little information on it out there...
I called REMO last Thursday and they didn't have my papers yet but someone did call me back on Friday. She said she'd process within a week and send it off to France, where they should have an update within 60 days.
Thank you for the tip about dealing directly with the French Courts- my French is passable and it will certainly be a relief being able to stop going through others for information!
Hope to be one of the success stories in 2012 :)
  • My ex moved to pennysylvania with her new husband and stopped paying maintenance for my daughter, who now lives with me, my wife and other children. She tells me that she no longer has to as the CSA cannot touch her. I have got the forms from the REMO office but am unsure whether I can actually claim. She is not working out there, and has a young child but her husband earns a massive wage which she is happily gloating about and spending happily, they also had a house here which they sold. She doesn't have to work as they have more than enough income to live, and they are hoping to live there permanently. Will any of this be taken into consideration? She will send pocket money directly to her bank, and thinks that this is enough. This does not help with the living costs and we seriously struggle with the costs as I am currently out of work and my wife is a carer for our other child who is disabled. Her disability allowance is used on living costs, because child maintenance is no longer coming in for support and a teenager costs a lot of money!! Can anyone offer any advice?? thanks.

  • What should I do?
My boyfriend left me when I was 3 months pregnant stating he couldn't do it (being a father) but would support me financially. I did expect things to get back to normal after he saw the scan pics but I never saw him again. He disappeared never to be seen again. That was in Aug 2001. I applied to the csa but they could not find him but would keep my case on file. In 2003 and 2004 I contacted the Csa and was told in 04 the case was closed. I told them he had moved to Portugal i had his family home address but that was it as far as the csa was concerned. It is now 2012 my daughter is 10yr + and I feel as bad today about him as I did back then. He took up no responsibility for his daughter and just cast her aside. Men like him are despicable. They just get on with their lives. But like others on here I believe I have now found myself a new hobby.
I have only recently heard about REMO as I trolled around on the net looking for people in a similar position. Funny really that as I was looking for more info on REMO when I should find my ex working in Brussels it seems for the European Union. I emailed him which would have been a real shock I'm sure!!! but no reply. What should I do now? Can I apply for REMO even though he is not on the birth certificate? Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
  • Hi all.

Been trawling various www sites to find out more info on REMO. Hoping someone can help me.

CSA can't touch my ex as he works overseas and the company that he works for is based in Jersey. Was advised to contact REMO which I did and REMO told me to contact my Magistrates Court and apply for court order for maintenance. After being put through to several people eventually got through to someone who was supposed to be the specialist in that area. However, this guy said that because child maintenance was not put into my Consent Order I could not use the court system and I should seek legal advice. I spoke to my original solicitors who told me that solicitors don't deal with child support and to contact CSA!! Explained situation again and then they said that child maintenance is not put into consent orders anyway! I think no-one seems to know what they are talking about! What do I ask for? Getting really frustrated with this system and I haven't even started the process yet. Hoping for clarification.

    Evening,
I have just seen your post and sadly I cant advise you on anything as your case is beyond me. One thing I will say is your ex may want to establish paternity prior to any registration of a potential order.
You might do better to start a new thread with your question. This way it will get viewed by more people and hopefully somebody will be able to help you.
Good luck and I will keep a eye out to see how things develop

    Hi Watermelon,
I have just popped on here quickly and I have stumbled across yours and another post.
I advised the other lady to open up a new thread with her question as I believe it will be viewed by a larger audience and hopefully somebody on here with a good REMO knowledge will read it and be able to help you.
I am so soory I could not be of any more help.
Good luck and keep your chin up.

  • Hi everyone, I would be grateful if anyone is able to advise me how the system work to claim Child maintenance from my ex who now lives in the states.
I have contacted REMO and they have told me to approach my local courts to apply for a court order for child maintenance.
I have a 5 year old son and have not received any payments for child support since my ex went abroad. Before he left he was claiming sickness benefit and the CSA were taking £5.00 a week directly out of his benefits. This stopped as soon as he left the country. At the time of our divorce there was no property or assets, in fact he left me in so much debt that i had to declare myself bankrupt and he left the country owing thousands in his own name. My ex married his new wife just one month after our divorce and has been supported by her and her family while his change of status application has been processed. I have just learnt that he is due his green card in the Summer and has a job to start.
Can I make my application now or do I have to wait until he is in employment? How easy is the process and how do the courts decide on the amount of maintenance he should pay, is it a percentage of his wages or is it worked on his household income.
I would be really grateful if anybody could give me any tips or information as to what I have ahead of me....I don't imagine for a minute that the process will be an easy one!
  • Advice please.

Does anyone have experience of REMO and Alberta?

I have a court order made through REMO Jan 2011 (took 18 months!), I have not received a payment yet though as Alberta Maintainance Enforcement won't pay into a non-Canadian bank account and wont send a check. REMO wont accept payments and keep telling me (through the Magistrates) that I need to register with Alberta Maintainance who keep telling me that I can't register until I or REMO give them bank account details.

I have tried to open a Canadian bank account with HSBC but was turned down as I have bad credit. If I received maintainance payments maybe I would be able to pay my bills on time!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I cant decide whether to cry or tear my hair out.
