coverage will depend where you live as with all mobile broadband, the wi-fi element is confusing. People tend to think this has wi-fi built in. It doesn't, it just means that as a subscriber to O2 PAYG broadband you are entitled to use The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots free of charge but your laptop has to be wi-fi capable.

Great Advice this was something I found out the hard way with a nice $75 bill for the first month.

I finally got my £10 refunded but it seems as though it has been back dated to the day I ordered it.. very strange. It shows on this months statement but right at the start when it wasn't there before..

Anyway I'm happy with a pay as you go dongle for under £4 :)

I think they'll apply it across the board after all the second generation has the same firmware now and its that that allows tethering rather than the new hardware. You still get unlimited on the iPhone (new or old) but not tethering.

Stupid question......what's the difference between unlimited and tethering? Can you can get the new phone and not use the tethering feature and still have unlimited access?

'O2, the iPhone service provider in the UK, claims it will disconnect anyone using the new tethering feature in the iPhone 3.0 update without signing up for its bolt-on data package.

iPhone owners who have installed the iPhone 3.0 update are reporting that it is possible to use the new tethering solution to hook up a laptop to use an iPhone’s internet connection for free.'

Its very unclear at the moment but unlimited internet usage is limited to the iPhone. Tethering is when you connect the iPhone to another computer and use it to access the internet (eg. via bluetooth). I assume they'll monitor the amount of data each iPhone SIM racks up accessing the internet and what they consider "excessive" use will lead to calls from O2 or suspension of the service until you call them. Obviously browsing from an attached computer is likely to lead to higher data totals.

As I said, its all very unclear at the moment.

    how dos this work exactly?

it says pay as yo go so does that mean you have to link in an o2 mobile and put money on it and broadband takes of the money some how?
