Just got home from 3 hrs at the police station, 2 men interviewed me from hmrc about my false expenses, i admitted that i claimed and recevied this money and explained why i had done what i had done.

Have been bailed to go back in 3 weeks to meet with the man from hmrc regarding the outcome after he has spoke to the legal dept, it comes to about £1200. Had to have fingerprints taken, dna test and photo while i was there.

I hope they are understanding and just give me a caution as i've said i'll pay the money back to them. This has made me realise what a waste i've made of my life and from now on i'm gonna be hardworking and not let anything like this happen again.

Thanks to all the poster's for offering support and advice and not judging because i wanted to just die yesterday but the hardest part is over.

You've been very brave, well done. The hardest is done now you can make an agreement and pay it back in instalments perhaps. We all make mistakes and the main thing is that we learn from them and move on. Things will just get better from now on I'm sure.

I am so glad you are back and ok.

Did they make any indication of the outcome? I don't know the legalities, but surely if they were going to charge they would have today?

Really hope you can put it behind you quickly and move on.

Good luck Jim, pleased it went ok. As you had to have your DNA taken I guess thats the first time you've been in a custody centre (or been out of trouble since 1996) and if that's the case I think you'll have a very good chance or receiving a caution.

As its HMIC I guess they have their own legal department rather that the Crown Prosecution Service. From experience CPS would not be inclined to run with this. However the legal department may decide that you should be charged, for example it's in the public interest to prosecute. If thats the case you will go to court but I'd be utterly shocked if you did bird, lets face it most career criminals walk away with a slapped wrist!

Hope it all goes well for you, and please stay off the white stuff. If you want any advice do send me a PM.
