You need to get someone to go with you - union representative, community worker or friend who knows the situation and your legal rights. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

I really can't see this ever involving a custodial sentence - for £1300?
I agree - take someone with you and listen to all they have to say before deciding what to say/do.

I work in the legal sector and agree that for £1,300 a custodial sentence is highly unlikely. Try not to worry as you can't do anything until tomorrow. I know that is easier said than done but nothing is worth contemplating suicide.

I agree with the posters who say tell the truth & be honest. It's the best way & better to come clean & get it over with than try to make excuses & maybe prolong any investigation & questioning. You've been honest here, so do the same at the interview & take somebody with you if possible.
The situation is understandably affecting you & it may be advisable to go along to your dr & have a word. Let him/her know you are under a lot of stress & perhaps they can give you something to help you through this hard time in your life.
Your not the only one to have done this & compared to what's been going on with our well heeled mp's & their expenses, it's a relatively small amount.
Do let us know how you got on.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
£1300 is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.
You may get a conviction, but if they send people to jail for that then we'd need bloody huge jails!
As with others, I would suggest that say nothing without the advice of a lawyer.
You may think you are being honest, but the person the other side of the desk may just view it as stupid.
You don't need to be confrontational about it, but just say that you need advice before you open your mouth.
The fact that you mention drugs implicitly means that your judgment was impaired (and presumably still is).0 -
I just wanted to let you know that this happend to a friend of mine. She stole £2500 from her company by fiddling expenses.
She got caught out, received a warning from the police and told to pay the money back. (She was also sacked but as you no longer work for them they cant do that). But no jail time and no arrest as she was honest, she apologised and arranged a payment plan with her company to re-pay all the money.
You sound like you were going through a dark patch then and now you have come out the other side. Go to the police station and see what they have to say, but as others said calmy say ok, I will now be seeking legal advice before responding.
Please dont let this knock you down, stay positive and please confided in someone you trust for emotional support or call the samaritans.

You were tempted and made a mistake...your not the 1st and wont be the last.
Go in tell the truth and walk away....they will give you a warning and make you pay it back......Life is far from over....just make sure you learn from this.
For gods sake look at all the MP's squirming and blaming everyone but themselves for their claims.0 -
I would do what RAS has suggested TBH. As it is clear you aren't in any fit state to be interviewed like this. Because I know what will/can/is likely to happen if they do interview in such a state.and please note they are not allowed to interview you under caution if you are not in a fit state menetally, so you need to speak to a doctor urgently.
I'd like to make them squirm for how they've made every person in this country miserable and also worry. However, the OPs life is worth more than a thousand if not more of these dishonourable people. For gods sake look at all the MP's squirming and blaming everyone but themselves for their claims.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

If you are being interviewed at the police station then you should be offered free legal advice & representation from the duty solicitor. Everyone being interviewed there is entitled to this and it is not dependent on income etc. I would suggest that you take this if you are to be interviewed under caution. The solicitor can then request disclosure before the interview so you will know what it is all about and they will probably have some idea of consequences.
It is not worth killing yourself over it, nothing is worth that. xxI hated every minute of training, but I said, ''Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'' Muhammed Ali.0 -
Go to the Police station, get them to come to the point as quickly as possible. Say nothing. Once they have made the accusation simply say that you have nothing to say at this stage and that you intend to leave and seek legal advice. At that point they will either permit you to leave or formally arrest you.
Once they arrest you you have rights. If you go voluntarily and hang around all day,you dont have as many rights.
If they havent made the accusation within half an hour, just leave.
You need to quickly get to a point where the Police arrest you and charge you.0
