Hi
Thanks for this helpful post - I've been seeking advice over on the Techies board for a problem I'm having on a PC. All of a sudden it has stopped allowing me to send an email with an attachment.
The attachment is just a simple Word document, straightforward with text, a smallish size and no graphics. I tried also with a simple Excel doc and the same thing happens.
I go to send an email (I've tried AOL and my hotmail account) and it either gives an error message saying the email header was too large (something like that) or it purports to send the email but it goes without the attachment.
It never used to do this. I can copy the same file on to a data stick and I am able to send it fine from my laptop so I don't think it is a problem with the file itself (I've tried different files).
I've had some useful suggestions over on the techie board which I'm going to try out. Someone suggested creating a Wordpad document and emailing that - this actually did work.
Just wondered if you've come across this sort of thing before and might know of a solution? I'm away from the PC in question now until the weekend when I'll be able to try some stuff out - including the latest suggestions on the techie board.
Many thanks in advance - good luck with your business, I hope this raises its profile.0 -

Hi, this seems to be quite a common problem after people install Internet explorer 8, as flash player says that it has updated but doesn't actually do so. There is an easy fix to the problem which involves manually installing the update. If you got into your Computer where your hardrive is listed and go to the the following path:
x:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\
(where X is the letter of your boot drive)
You will find a file there called flashutil10a.exe, click on it to manually install the update and thats it.0 -
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com:hello:0 -
I have had to purchase a new system as my previous motherboard died on me. The problem I now have is that the files I had saved to disc from the old system are now not recognised. The old system had Roxio 8 on it. I have tried to get this on to the new system but have not had any luck. Can you suggest anything for me. Some of the files are quite important, my tax return! ThankyouLyn :hello:0
