Yes ! I pretty much always do it DIY.

    Give us a clue.... please !! :D

Where/ when do you want to go? I don't have any special tricks (well I do, but they are not holiday related ;) ), just spend far too much time on t'interweb!

Will happily see what I can find ... I'm just praying you are not going to say you want to go in the summer holidays!

Ahhh you see therein lies my greatest challenge ;)

Date : 01 August for 2 weeks  although possibly slightly flexible.....

2 adults, 1 child age 11. First choice is Florida, been there before stayed on I-drive at Crowne Plaza Universal Blvd ( we HATE British lager lout chavs :D )

Believe me when I say we have done this sort of thing before..... had 4 holidays last year, for the price most people would pay for 2 :D:D

To be honest apart from dates we would go anywhere we deemed within budget ( which is a hard answer to give before you ask ), as long as there were not too many 'typical Brits on the beer' types....

Thanks for your offer though, appreciated. :T

Florida in August - yep, you've identified why it is so expensive! Did you book this late last year, or last minute? I wonder if this is the wrong time to book - too late for early specials, but too early for late deals?

Where else do you fancy? Dubai would probably be cheaper, but even hotter than Florida! If you would go closer to home, how about Portugal or Morocco?

Yes Florida in August is dear, but then we have looked at almost EVERYWHERE else that I can possibly think of.

Actually, the holiday cost that I mentioned in the opening post was to Salou last year. I did it as a 'test' price, to see if I was going crazy and if prices really have gone through the roof.

    They have !

Portugal is a possibility yes, Morocco, not considered it but maybe. Dubai, dont think my 11 year old would like it much, you never now though he is pretty well travelled. Definalty better travelled than me at his age :rotfl:

It can also be more here too. A friend goes to Butlins 3 times a year, a week and two long weekends, this time of year he goes for a full week with around 12 people extended family to Skegness. Normally pay around £1.2K, its now double that.

Ooh Ooh do we have a holiday broker wannabe in the house? If so me next please :)

The wife and i's 2 year wedding anniversary this year (aww bless) but she wants to be away for the actual day (7th July) - we expect to pay more as its peak season but it does seem around £200 more for the same holidays as last year.

Any help would be appreciated - apparently she's not bothered where we go its just got to be hot, relaxing and not full of 18 - 30's

if anyone sees any deals let me know :) (ps went to Turkey last year)

all prices are certainly higher this year but i'm afraid this is down to the poor pound. last june we were in Boston and Cape Cod. Got almost $2 to the pound. this year looking at $1.5 at best so a 25% decrease in value and with a little inflation finding same holiday DIY at around 30% more expensive. i'm afraid as bad with the Euro so most holidays are going to feel that much more. We have had such good value over recent years with the pound so strong , now we are seeing the other side -- Americans we know couldn't aford to come here over the last couple of years but know so much cheaper for them. hopefully cycle will return in our favour soon but don't hold your breath.

In Butlins case its a case of exploitation, 100% increase isnt down to UK deflation, its more inflation and supply and demand

Still I got a Uk holiday cottage in end of July and I costs wasnt that much more than 3 years ago when I last had a UK holiday (couldn't afford holiday last 2 years)
