Had a phone call from the woman with the overflowing tank asking me to collect the buckets we took down for her as she doesn't need them anymore and they are in her way. Dh went to collect them as he didn't trust me not to say anything.
She left them outside her front door.
Like you, I couldn't belive the rudeness and ignorance shown towards us. God help her enemies if that's how she treats people who help her.
Oh well, it's put down to experience.
Just finished re-pointing for the day, had a quick shower then made the second duck, leek,(arggh dont mention leaks) stuffing and chicken terrine. I only have 1 loaf tin so had to make them in stages.
TIRED MUM, :A Thank you for asking after DB2. The Oncology consultant said he needs to have more x-rays of the growth to determine how deep it is. The last one that was zapped didn't go deep enough and there are "sort of roots" still left which will need further treatment.
The good news is..... he has made the decision to see his GP tomorrow and fess up to drinking copious amounts therefore rendering the anti-depressants useless. It's a big step for him to finally admit that alchohol is a problem. We spoke for 2 hours last night. Didn't post about DB2 as I don't want to bore anyone, so thank you again. x
BEMUSED, Just read your post. (((((hugs))))) sorry it's such an extra sad time for you0

            Hello again!:hello:
Have spent the last few days resting as much as I could and rattling and wheezing with a cough.
I have missed you all but popped in just to read a few posts as my typing was terrible.
Made a huge quiche which we have just eaten and DH has scrubbed the kitchen table for me.
Might make chicken curry with tortillas as a snack tonight while we watch Britain's got Talent.
DD(15) has a headache and looks a bit pale but is desperate for something sweet so might make chocolate buns as a treat for her.
 haalight
Hope things go well health wise for you.

.....Didn't get back on here after dashing down to help the woman with the flood. DH stopped the water over flowing from the tank in the loft but couldn't fix the ballcock as he didn't have a spare one. All was made safe, I helped move some furniture and lent her some buckets to catch the water. after nearly an hour we went to leave, the woman didn't even offer a thank you. DH didn't charge her anything, all she said was "So I wont have any hot water then"......
That's so rude - some people are never grateful for help like that in an emergency. Maybe OH should pop a bill through her letterbox adding his out-of-hours call-out charge on - it was a Sunday after all!
Halight I was an Enid Blyton fan - Famous Five and Secret Seven, then all the St Clares and Mallory Towers books, followed by the Chalet School series (can't remember now who wrote them - well it was about 35 years ago!!). Also had the odd Just William, Billy Bunter and Biggles books, thanks to my 2 older brothers!
Had a lovely w/e with OH....he made really good time up the M6 on Friday night, was home within 4.5 hours, and on a Bank Holiday weekend too! On Saturday we had Pizza Express (thanks to The Times for their £20 gift card!) went to a Rhthym & Blue festival in Warrington to see a band I've followed for over 10 years, then back to Poulton to meet friends for more beer . .
Sunday was a late breakfast then butties in our local park followed by a lovely long walk (about 12 miles) and a bus home to cold roast y/s chicken with potato salad & salad leaves in the back garden with a bottle of rose. Also fed the plants and squirted the greenfly...have got 2 toms, 2 peppers, 1 chilli, a trough of salad leaves & 1 of mange-tout, plus the usual herbs and bay tree, 2 pots of lillies and a honeysuckle - all in a yard about 10' by 12', that also has a table & bench set in and the old outhouse (now the utility room c/w beer fridge!). Also want to get a couple of courgettes in a grow-bag to climb up the old wrought iron gate and plant some nasturtiums in a hanging basket to brighten up a corner.
Haven't done much today - we try & keep travel-back day lazy for whichever one of us is driving back to go to work the next day. Got up in time to have breakfast this morning - just! Later we had potato salad (OH made a mountain from a bag of Tesco Jersey's so he's taken some back with him!) and cold meat for late lunch, and he's just left, hoping to get onto the M6 before the Lakes traffic goes home.
I really need to do some ironing and a bit of deforestation so I can self-tan-wipe in order to start wearing skirts for work! Think people will make an assumption about interviews if I am not in my normal trousers, but hey, assume away, I ain't going anywhere coz at the moment I love my job
Right, I'm off to peruse the dry-cleaning threads.....have acquired a gorgeous silk-linen mix dress from a charity shop that is a little grubby, and need to find out if it will recover it's freshness by hand washing or if it really is dry-clean only.
 Love & hugs to all
 Floss xx

Evening all. Well, the not so promising weather this morning turned into a beautiful afternoon. DD10 took the opportunity to mow the lawn (for payment!), and I did a bit of weeding.
Did some shopping this morning whilst the children went to the local pool for a swim (very OS, as it is free due to the under 16's swimming iniative).
Think the plan for this evening is to finish the bottle of wine I opened last night, and watch the second Britains Got Talent Semi-Final.
Hope you're all had an enjoyable Bank Holiday.0

we used to have the hardback ones but I have to admit to ripping some of the blank pages out years ago to draw on :oand I think my Mum must have thrown them out. I would love to find time to reread them in their original form.
I also read the Secret seven and Mallory Towers books too.Do what you love :happyhear0

betheebee - please don't ever think we would be bored hearing about your brother. Big (((hugs))) to you. Speaking to the dr about drinking will help him hugely and this will be the start of the antidepressants really working for him. Well done him!
Take care Bemused and be gentle with yourself (((hugs)))
Off to get the washing in as it has started raining here - big heavy drops!
