Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning....Dry start to the day. Looks like a heavy rain shower later in the day, my vegetables will be thankful for that. Then sun sun sun for the rest of the week.
BBQ yesterday, just about found somthing. Popped in to ASDA to find that the shelves were pretty much empty of anything that looked like grill food.
Good day for sport yesterday although I did get nagged at for watching the Grand Prix instead of enjoying the sun.....
Not much planned for the day... Have a nice one folks....
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Morning N9eav & all to follow,

Sunshine today but rain coming back Wednesday. I washed this morning but the WM didn't seem to want to pump the water out. Had to wait until DH came home so he could dislodge 2 screws from the pump that must have been in his pocket. :o:D Made bread. Went for a walk after lunch & been recording family tree stuff into a free program. ;) Time consuming but it will be good once it's done.

Off to Bingo tonight. Got a hair appt tomorrow morning and then off to get a flu shot. DD arrives back home Wednesday. Might go and have a shower & have a wine while I'm cooking tea. Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all,

    Penny, your sausages looked fabulous!
whatatwit, it's great to see you back.
Aussie, good luck at bingo tonight.
    welcome to princess_siobhan and Ladyshopper

Both boys are off school for the half term so it's sod's law that when I get the chance for an extra snooze, I'm up and wide awake. When they get up I'm going to make them a cooked breakfast and then, weather permitting, we'll do something fun today. I'll take advantage of them being home first though and [STRIKE]bribe[/STRIKE] persuade ds1 to cut the grass and ds2 to weed the front beds while I do a quick swish and swipe in the house and stick something in the slow cooker for tea as I'm back to work tonight.

Off to use the leftover mash to make some potato bread for breakfast. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone  DH and I went for a long bike ride yesterday (including a pint of bitter shandy each  ). On the way back we bumped into some friends, and invited them and their children back for a sausage barbeque :j We lit the chiminea and sat outside until 10pm :T I found a bottle of fizzy wine in the pantry so we toasted the success of Hull City
    Penny, your sausages looked fabulous!

They tasted really good, too :j DH and I were discussing other flavour combinations; I like cranberry and stilton, DH favours pork, pigeon, and Morello cherry. No-one thought gherkin and banana would work  :rotfl: DH is a huuuuuuuge fan of Gok Wan, so I knew what you were all meaning referring to my "nice bangers" :naughty::p:D

    Old Style jobs for today:
    • gardening
    • Flylady list
    • cycle ride
    • slow roasted pork shoulder for supper
Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning all,
Didn't get back on here after dashing down to help the woman with the flood. DH stopped the water over flowing from the tank in the loft but couldn't fix the ballcock as he didn't have a spare one. All was made safe, I helped move some furniture and lent her some buckets to catch the water. after nearly an hour we went to leave, the woman didn't even offer a thank you. DH didn't charge her anything, all she said was "So I wont have any hot water then"

BM on and bed stripped, will get back to re-pointing today.
FLISSH, I also had enough duck left to make make a Hoi Sin Duck dish for two.
JACKIO, Hope you're feeling beter today.
FATTYBOOBOO, Forget the garage for storing baby stuff in, You'll need an extension. :rotfl:
    Hope it's a good day for all.x
  • Morning everyone to those who will follow and to the early birds already!
Typical bank holiday morning -I can't sleep and wake up mega early having spent a turbulent night after DD had a wobbly last night must be pre -exams jitters!!!!!!she is white this morning and very sad:confused:

Never mind -I've got a plan this half term week to keep her fully occupied with lots of silly things to do and to revise 3/4 pages each day on each subject . For once, I think she want's someone to take control just so she can stop her head spinning!!! Good luck to all with exam kiddiwinks at this weird time - shame they don't do a Gcse in feeling helpless and lost because she'd pass that one :o
(((((((hugs)))))))To all who need it and a pat on the back to all who do brill things today!
Have a lovely day with BBQ's and family visits etc etc
    Take care x

Morning folks. Sun is shining here and Dh out washing his car and I'm here typing away in the PJs. Washing on the line - because I left it out all night :D.
Off to have some toast in a min and then get my ironing and packing done. Luckily I haven't worn the 2 blouses/ tops I bought in TKMaxx while ago so they are all ready to go. Looking forward to seeing DD after her op and to seeing DS - he has been really down lately (he's at uni) and I feel a bit helpless that I can't make it all better. He has good friends and a good dr though so I have to trust.
OH-wise today - hhmmm probably not a huge lot. Was going to plant some mixed salad leaves (seeds) but don't trust DH to water them when I'm away for 5 days.
Tea will be braised sausages with mash and a yorkie on the side as I have cheats ones to use up in the freezer. That freezer WILL be emptied one of these days - I'm getting there.
Hope the sun shines on you all and (((hugs))) to those feeling low.

    Morning all

Yest was the most glorious day and today is starting out beautiful too. We had a lovely family BBQ last evening and all the hard work we have put in on the garden must be paying off as we had lots of lovely comments about how nice it looked. Food for the BBQ was great too we got some pork and chorizo sausages from Asda, amongst other things and they were really, really nice. Am going to get some more as they would also be very tasty chopped in a tomato sauce with pasta.

Not sure what we are going to be doing today - need to go to the bottle bank at some point this morning:D to dispose of the evidence:rotfl:

Bm on and wm on its second load, took washing line down last night so nobody accidentally hung themselves whilst under the influence:rolleyes: So OH in garden at the moment putting it back up then I can get some washing out to dry. Need to get the chinese lanterns back out the tree and put away for next BBQ - they looked really pretty and we sat out till 11.30 chatting - I love evenings like that.

Hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday - I am only working 2 days this week as we fly over to Ireland to the wedding on Thursday -need to sort a case out too. Anyway enjoy your day:D
