lol.. it'll probably be resin .. ie plastic... will need sanding and any undercoat will suffice, though you may need to sand it first to stop it chipping quite so badly. Any gloss type paint will do then... but the chances are it will still chip. Failing the gloss.. masonry paint will do.

We had a proper white marble one that had been painted black in the front room when we moved in.. it wasn't wonderful so was removed and replaced with a black marble one instead.. much nicer!

mudbath peacocks do need a lot of space, its a massive pose having them. When I was a kid they had them at the riding stables, where they had acres of space. The are noisy and a bit of a pain in the bum, but look pretty of course!

Back from swimming and morrisons shopping. Morrisons was packed :( but we managed to get everything (I think!) that we need for the BBQ. Took some flowers to DH, they have at last put bins for recycling dead flowers and another for packaging waste.

Miss A & W are having a picnic on the back garden, it's v quiet here so I presume you are all out enjoying the sun :D

Hello everyone :D Bit of an odd night out last night - some good and some bad bits - so head is a bit confused today  Lovely weather here and I don't have enough washing for a load!!

More hugs and prayers for Toots - love the balloons idea

rach - hugs and prayers for you too; I know several people who have had bad news regarding fertility etc. but have gone on to have lovely littlies! In fact, the 3 friends who had babies last year were all expected not to be able to. Stay positive if you can x

boddy - hugs for you too; you're doing a valuable job

soappie - hugs; I'm sure you'll get used to it after a while

    thifty and Blimus - welcome!

mudbath - that sounds horrendous! I'm sure that can't be allowed (peacocks not pegs!!). Oh, and wouldn't it just be quicker to use matching pegs!

I moght take a peek at the weekend list as I'll be doing my bedding tomorrow ..........

Thanks for those suggestions Pigpen. It's a nice shaped mantlepiece and fire surround, so it would be pointless us taking it out. But it's not going to suit the new colours/units etc. So, painting it is.

If you look at that link, and click the option for viewing it as "timeless lounge" that's the shape our room is, and the fire surround in that picture is the same shape as ours, just that ours is weird fake marble, and doesn't look anything like as smart as that white one does.

Thanks for the nice comments about the colour scheme BTW! :D

Next 2 lines full drying nicely, Plus the clothes horse is outside too. Marvellous.
Mr Sh. has bought a new strimmer, and is battling with the front garden that is dreadful, and looks like no-one cares about the house. We're going to copy next door's idea, after discussion and agreement with them, to put down membrane and gravel the whole thing. It's full of an apline ground cover plant that is like the most virulent of weeds. The more you pull it up the more it seems to thrive!
