Hi peeps

Is there anyway I can downgrade from Vista to XP?

I've 2 laptops and a desktop, both laptop have Vista, desktop has XP, both laptops are extremely slow compared to the desktop, I'm really unimpressed with Vista, and would by choice downgrade both laptops to XP, any way of doing it?

If you've got Vista Ultimate or Vista Business you can exercise your ability to downgrade to XP by contacting Microsoft to arrange for the Vista license to be transferred. If you've got any other edition, you'll have to pony up for some copies of XP.

Why don't you try Windows 7? it's what vista should of been, A Truely complete operating system, alot faster than Vista ever was.
I run it on both my Pc's and never looked back

It really doesn't matter, i have put windows 7 onto 4 laptops for friends, What you end up with will be windows 7 ultimate, so nothing to lose.

    Regards Chris

Installation time is half that of XP

Are you sure you wanna load XP rather than Windows 7? as thats a step backwards, Windows 7 is far better than XP.

Windows 7 is Free Download & Legit Serial
XP will cost for a legit copy

Add to that Windows 7 will go straight onto Vista as you may need to hunt for XP drivers for a Vista machine?

Chris, I'm not techie minded, so I'll play ignorant and say I have no idea what windows 7 is, what I do know, I want rid of Vista, and have both machines running as speedily as XP is on the desktop, at the cheapest but easiest possible solution.

I have thought about taking both laptops to somewhere like PC world and have them get rid of Vista, due to me not being techie minded, but it would depend on the cost.

Windows 7 is Microsofts Latest operating system and it is well worth installing. No point in going backwards unless you need to.

Whats you PC knowledge like? Can you download and burn an image file?
If so then here's your starting point:-

If not do you have a PC mined friend that could do it for you?

Worse case senario i'll burn you off a copy with your unique serial number.

    Regards

Yes, but it's getting them to have the time, but I'll give them a nudge towards ths thread.

Just curious Chris, if you were to burn off a copy with a unique serial number, could I use that on both laptops, and is it on a disc or via d/l link?

Are you having a giraffe?! You're advising someone to download and install a Release Candidate OS which will expire June 1st 2010. Oh and it'll start shutting down every two hours from March 1. Great peice of advice you burk.
