Find the mortgage boards a bit scary still searching for myself at the moment not looking good intelligent finance is also an age 65 offset I will see what the mortgage adviser comes up with otherwise I think it will be a lifetime tracker with HSBC at 1.89% over base with unlimited overpayments not quite as flexible as I would have liked but better than what we have at the moment.

OK you have convinced me I will put a post up

Don't be disheartened if no one answers, it always seem to be more active during the week, when the MA's are around. You could always PM one of them. I'll try and bump it up in the week if I can ;)

Good luck with the mortgage...i'm lucky as mines a flexible lifetime tracker0.49% above base rate with Abbey/santander.
Have you had a look at what they've got?

Thanks Taxi nice to see you back online :T

I am afraid the operation did not go well. Abi had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic and for a short while I thought we had lost her I could not believe that something like this could be happening to us again. I was then told that two consultant anaesthetists were "working on her" and that she might have to be transferred to Alder Hey and finally after three hours we were told that they had been able to increase her oxygen levels and she was waking up the relief was unimaginable. Abi is perfectly fine and last night told me she had had a good day! She is home and is back to normal the rest of us are taking a bit more time to get over it. Just another reminder of how fragile life is.

  • DT I'm so very sorry to read about Abi's op. I had the same op when I was little and it was absolutely fine. In fact, I even remember finding the gromets in my bed when they eventually fell out!!

Hopefully after the shock of the op (which she obviously doesn't realise, luckily) the main thing will be that Abi has her hearing back and has a better quality of life. My main memory of my hearing loss is being at school and the teacher asking me to get something from across the room, I picked up lots of different things, none of which were the right one. It was so very embarassing!!

Thinking of you all... at the festival over the weekend there were lots of chinese laterns set off (even though there were signs up asking not to as the woods were so dry) and each one reminded me of you

Thanks but unfortunately the operation did not happen she deteriorated before they even started. They have now said they will see her in ENT clinic in two months to assess what to do next and also she will have a pre op assessment. If they feel there is any risk of it happening again the operation will take place in Alder Hey we are awaiting the results of some samples they took to try and find out exactly why it happened. She is suffering at school the teachers are very good but she is not making friends I expect they get fed up of her not hearing what they say to her it is very noticeable when we go to birthday parties she tends to stand and watch what is going on rather than joining in :(

My older ones were going to send off more lanterns this weekend when they went camping but the weather was so bad they couldn't. So glad they were able to last week they were a memorable sight.

Oh DT, it is a wonder your poor heart is still going! How much can one person take? Poor Abi - really glad she is ok - how resiliant are kids....

I had a bad reaction to anaesthetic as a 5 year old at the school dentist, they couldn't bring me round and my Mum was terrified. It turns out it doesn't take much to put me under and I have to mention before any other ops.

According to a Doctor friend it is a straight forward op, so should go to plan next time. Hugs to you xx
  • Fingers crossed for next time xx

So sorry to hear about poor Abi(glad she hasn't realised)....can't imagine what you were going through at that time..it must've been awful...so scary.
Thankfully she is ok now and hopefully the samples will show up why she had the reaction.
