The Double Debt Attack by Double Trouble

Thanks Katsu - I can see that kind of advice and help would be really useful as, like DT, I have no sense of style. A friend of mine did a colour consultation course once and told me I am a 'summer' type - blues and greens - so I tend to wear those colours now and think they do suit me best. But I am so flat broke that buying any clothes, let alone consultancy, is pie in the sky!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I can recommend the House of Colour too.
Years ago when I was at college some ladies came in with it. Apparently I'm a "Cold Winter" :rotfl: but joking aside, the colours that suit me are the ones I am drawn to naturally - white, black, navy, red, purple etc - rather than Earth tones; cream, camel, brown, orange which do me no favours at all. So it is good.
Often all you need is someone to show you which styles suit your body shape and colouring. Staff in boutique type shops are often very helpful, so it is worth getting over your embarrassment.0 -

Wow well done DT. Read your bits on Hypnos thread and just wanted to pop in and say congrats to you. It's so easy to say 'oh I'm not interested in clothes' when really you would be if you had a bit of help and inspiration. It's a huge step and woo hoo. I work in retail and get lots of people in who need help and advice. For me and all the girls the best bit of the job is seeing people go out looking and feeling great and it's no bother to do! This is absolutely brilliant! I'm really pleased for you - you must have been ready to take the step, and then saw the conversation over the last few days, and hey presto! Wonderful stuff.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

What a fab post, new and improved DT xxx
I'm really pleased you are feeling so happy. Well done you for plucking up the courage to fight your demons xxxOne step at a time0 -
Ladies, can I recommend Trinny and susannah's books if you're not sure about colours/your shape. They are fab and have proper realistic advice and some great photos of them wearing the 'wrong' shapes and colours for them to prove their point!!! The Body Shape Bible is especially good and they have all of them in my local library! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

I'm not a Trinny & Susannah fan, from the tv programmes, I didn't like the end results quite often, whereas Gok was consistently good, but I suppose it's a matter of different taste and styles.
I've not got the Gok books, but I do use some of his tips. e.g. High heels are good& for larger bra/cup sizes v neck sweaters are flattering. Need to look in the library when I get back and see if his book is there.
I'd got used to wearing flatties all the time, but now currently for shopping etc a 1.5 to 2 inch heel is the norm, and I'm practising with higher ones for going outIt does make a difference to your posture too.
Something to think about when shoe shopping DT, it's not just clothes where we get stuck into buying the same thing all the time.
I'd definitely got into a Clark's shoe rutNow it's the nice shoe's at the outlet villages and occasional one's at TKMaxx (they do get nice shoes, bags, undies and clothes in sometimes).
