Friday, 15 October 1993 THE MOST amazing thing happened the other day to the friend of someone I used to work with, a woman who lives in a quiet house in the country. She was in a supermarket with her six-month-old baby, and stupidly left her handbag in the trolley while she loaded up with fruit. She turned her back for just a minute, and the bag vanished. She alerted the manager, but it was too late. She had to borrow money from the shop to get home; the baby was hungry and screaming - the whole thing was a nightmare.
She got home eventually (a neighbour had the spare key), but 10 minutes later the phone rang. It was the supermarket manager, saying they'd found her bag. Everything seemed to be there except the cash from her purse. Great news] She hurried back to the shop. She had a quick glance inside the bag, and there didn't seem to be anything missing. So it was a shock when she returned home again to find that her house had been expertly and thoroughly burgled.

There's nowt to say the OP didn't post in good faith just as there's nowt to say the people who relay EMAIL WARNINGS to me aren't acting in good faith, either.

But I wish they wouldn't bother.

Either it's necessary to trawl through complete b8ll8x about toilet doors with hooks on the outside or it's an email about a parcel delivery scam (you ring up to find out about the package and instantly incur a £50-a-minute phone bill) or a guy who drugs women with a new super drug ("THE POLICE HAVE CONFIRMED THIS!!!") or a new type of computer virus that fries your brain (like who needs that when there's already Vista?) etc etc.

It's awkward, having to reply to the email senders with the Hoaxbusters link because then they're embarrassed. . . and they blame you.

If only people would stop to think before relaying warnings, we'd all be a damn sight better off -- because there's a danger that a genuine alert will one day get lost in all the non-genuine static.

    Anyway. Rant over.

I have to pop next door to help my neighbour, newly arrived from a family holiday ruined by the untimely death of his mother-in-law. They had no travel insurance so he's had to bring the body all the way back from Brittany on the roof-rack.

Let that be a warning to others.

If the ladies toilets are anything like the mens toilets in John Lewis, Bluewater, then this would be impossible. In the gents the toilet door has no upper gap and closes fully. The only gap is at the bottom of the door, so anyone putting a hand under would be kicked or stopped. In any case how could they reach under to get hold of a handbag 3 feet in the air.

The ladies toilet at JL Bluewater has such high traffic that it's unlikely that anyone would be able to loiter and get away with it.

For the 3rd time of asking, please terminate your involvement in the thread here.

Who the hell are you to tell people what threads they can partake in. You come on here with a bogus story which is well and truly debunked as rubbish and then have a hissy fit.

and I would like NOT to be asked to send these bl00dy chain e mails...my 13 YO daughter gets them from her mates (and the threats are unpleasant, to say the least) so I have told her to forward them to me and I will delete them...
had a seriously unpleasant one a few months back with pics of David Copperfield telling me I'd be dead within the week if I didn't forward them...

By the way - did you know we have e mail here in hell now? I'm sure they have it up there, too ^^^^^^

I can't help thinking of that little shrimp in "Shark Tale" who tells this big long story about his sisters kids or whatever and then says "true story!!!" at the end! Makes me laugh everytime! :rotfl:

Yes, it is an urban legend, but there is an element of truth, according to the snopes link posted. I can't see it happening exactly like that, as it doesn't quite add up, and I still don't know why anybody would leave their handbag on a peg outside a toilet cubicle.

To the OP people are just stating their opinion. This is a forum. Please don't take it personally. :A

I just asked her to leave the thread?! I don't see what the problem is.

If you look back over what 'Amanda' has posted, you will see they are quite negative and un-supportive, and I was just trying to get the sence of negativity away.

    Anyway, seems to have worked.
