I am just dictating what my sister said to me, so sorry if I caused any offence!

I am aware that there was a similar scam involving people being offered a free day out or whatever, during which their house was robbed, but I thought this was slightly different.

Ilnf- I don't know, I can only assume she lives in a flat

Dealer wins- From the impression my sister gave me, 'Jude' obviously didn't think of that? Kind of shows you what kind of person she is lol!

    Zara- Goodness knows

Amanda- Thanks for the positive support :( I didn't even realise these sort of websites were in operation!

but just look at all the stuff whic would tell you its not true

Basically, My Sister's friend (lets call her Jude) went shopping in Bluewater, Kent and went to the toilet. She hung her handbag on a hook outside the cubicle, which unfortunatley was stolen.#

there are no hooks outside toilets

Jude did all the normal things (look round, ask in shops, call the police etc) but to no avaial and went home.

why?she knew it had been taken so why look in shops?

    After a few days, Jude recieved a phone call supposedly from John Lewis saying they found her bag and asking when will she come and collect it. At the pre-arranged time, she went to John Lewis to collect her bag;

    see previous about prearranged times

the staff did not know anything about it so after about an hour or two of confusion, Jude went home.

an hour or two to understand no they knew nothing about it?

As she got home, she stepped inside and her house had been burgled- completely cleared out.

Of course, now she knows the John Lewis phone call was fake (made by the thiefs using the number stored on the phone which was in the stolen bag)

what number?:confused:the phone stores your mobile number whic she obviously wouldnt answer, her home number woud not have been marked

and that the thiefs had her house keys (in the stolen bag) and of course knew she was going to be out for over an hour looking for the bag, so the perfect crime!

but she had gone home and stepped in the house witout realising they had her keys, how did she do that? also how did they phone her if the theives had her house keys and she had to go to lewis at a prearranged time, she would have changed the locks

    complete bs start to finish

As already said, this is what my sister told me. It didn't happen to me, nor my sister, but to my sister and her husband's friend. I thought posting on this forum would help warn any potential victims, but obviously not from comments such as
    complete bs start to finish

Obviously we all have our own opinions on the matter, but if you could keep the negative ones (as above) to yourself, I would appreciate it.

I think your sister is having you on then if you have posted this in good faith. From the start with the 'hung outside the toilet' it becomes unbelievable.

And to add in another theory - if she lives in a flat - on her own - would she need to store her home number on her mobile?

And do all 'burglers' assume that flats are solely occupied?

But it Didn't happen to your sister's friend as the earlier link to an urban myth website shows it is a stock story which has been tweaked to fit an area (Kent) and circumstance!

Your Sister's friend has read the story somewhere and applied it to themselves for the purpose of being able to tell a ripping yarn!

    It is clearly codswallop!

Not for a moment would I suspect my sister of doing something like that- and if you do it to yours, I strongly suggest you do something about your relationship!

Obviously this story hasn't gone down well at all here, so if you are all quite finished, I would appreciate your avoidance to reply to this thread.

You won't be saying that when the burglars come back at night and steal her kidneys.

Just a warning to anyone who has had their handbag stolen recently.

I was told this by my Sister when she visited us the other week.

Basically, My Sister's friend (lets call her Jude) went shopping in Bluewater, Kent and went to the toilet. She hung her handbag on a hook outside the cubicle, which unfortunatley was stolen. Jude did all the normal things (look round, ask in shops, call the police etc) but to no avaial and went home. After a few days, Jude recieved a phone call supposedly from John Lewis saying they found her bag and asking when will she come and collect it. At the pre-arranged time, she went to John Lewis to collect her bag; the staff did not know anything about it so after about an hour or two of confusion, Jude went home. As she got home, she stepped inside and her house had been burgled- completely cleared out. This is a true story, and I do hope none of you ever have to go through something like this. Just a warning - never leave your house empty when going to retrieve a stolen handbag!

Jude should give herself an uppercut
