The thing is that it was my Sister's friend... If it was my Sis's husband (who is one of those people you really don't want to engage in any kind of conversation with) I would dismiss it almost immediately.

So having read the urban myth story you STILL haven't dismissed it as the rubbish it clearly is??

Obviously I do, or otherwise I would of realised sooner thanks to your *constructive* criticism and done something to amend this thread!!!

As said before, I will ask my sis more on Monday, but I didn't really plan to interview her over something like this. I can't do anything more than that for now- she lives about 1 and 1/2 hours away! I will appreciate it if you terminate your involvement with the thread here because of some of your rather negative comments towards me and my family.

Nobody is having a go at your family. People are pointing out to you that somebody has told your Sister a whopping great lie which they have passed off as something that has happened to them. Simple as that!

You don't seem to listen to all the people who have explained about these urban myths and seem to believe the story regardless!

You seem to have a very one-angled view on this. You do not take into consideration things like maybe it was my sister's friend's story being described on that website?? Just a theory!

I thought the point in these forums was to help others out, and from your posts in this thread, it is obvious you have not thought of this. I tried to help people out by describing something that is obviously very relevant and current, perhaps preventing a potential theft that could happen. My 'help' has been dismissed almost immediately by comments such as 'total b/s' and 'utter carp' etc. I have said I will ask my sis on Monday about it more, but this does not seem to satisfy attention-hungry people such as yourself. You believe what you believe, and I will believe what I believe. We shall leave it at that.

For the 3rd time of asking, please terminate your involvement in the thread here.

This may well be an urban Myth, but one with a warning tag for any potential victims.

Is it not possible that this case was a copycat case, maybe the thief had already read this story and thought "what a good idea".

It is quite possible the Ops sister DID succumb to the theft, as it would seem even MORE far fetched for her to make the story up (even after reading about it) where is the gain in that?

I am all prepared to trust the OPs post as authentic, but regardless of its purpose, the OP has added a good warning to others regarding handbag theft's.

I have never read the story myself, so it has opened my eyes a little to the fact that these things DO go on.
