The tulips are lovelyand really good value. There were some roses at Haslingden this dinnertime as they had just had a delivery, bought some and some lovely spray carnations at only £1.99 will add these to the special flowers I will get from my local florist to make a huge bouquet. P.S. Asda has some nice ones too0

thanks to the OP
Depending on the variety of friend flowers can be remarkably good value5 x 30 = 150 so fulfilling your 'gross ' promise and ending the harping would cost £25 . The petals from the remaining six roses could be used to strew a path up the stairs ...................... into the kitchen, off to the pub, home to her mother's :rotfl:
Nothing in it, nothing in it but a ribbon round it .....0 -
Hi Folks
Might be a BIG Tesco con again!
Big page in today's Daily Mail to get 30 Roses for just a fiver!
Went to four Tesco's in the Sussex area and guess what, yes no roses!!
So what do you do? Yes you end up buying others flowers and they get you into the store with a false promise!
Call me a grumpy old person but if they place a major ad in a national paper you'd think they'd have the roses in stock!
Happy Mothers Day!COMPERKING

I have a feeling that there would be a riot at my local if they didn't have any in stock, I know im not going to be the only one there on Sunday

How are they proving what a rip-off my missus is. My missus is not a rip-off and I feel VERY insulted that you would say that. Do you even know what rip-off means?
Tesco know that Mothers day is a florists biggest day and is using its roses/bouquet loss leader to destroy your small florists. The flowers in the bouquet are poor quality ( do not know about the roses ) with paltry 40 cm stems. Something a rip-off local florist would not even think of buying.
Anyway I now believe that Tesco have underpriced themselves out of the market and now have the flower giving credibility somewhere between a garage forecourt and nicking them off a lampost.
And it would be a nice gesture to retract the rip off remark.S!!!!horpe0 -
I totally agree Dazco - dont insult someones business!
ALso - Tesco are selling 'panda' roses which do look like a great deal, but have no scent, and never fully open - they are also available at about £2 for 10 or so at any wholesale flower market (New Covent Garden/ Spitalfieds etc in London)
So to be honest - if you want a cheap(ish), but thoughtful pressie for your mum on Sunday - how about hot footing it down to your local wholesale market - spending maybe £10 & get an armful of fab and unusual flowers that you put together specially for her?! But be warned - you do have to get there by about 7am on a Saturday!0 -
Maybe we should all go off and live in Thailand where we could buy 50 roses for £2....although the fight would cost £300 to get there so maybe not0

I agree, when i give my bunch of flowers to my mother in law, first thing she will say is probably " are these the £5 ones off the tv"
aint the same anymore.0 -
