things looking like they worked out that way for a reason then!
I can only say that I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's the same for me: We have chain free buyers & have just had an offer of 91% of asking rejected by the vendors of where we would like to buy. Bit upset as we love the house, but can't afford a single penny more. Reluctantly have walked away & am hoping that these things happen for a reason. Not feeling like that atm as chain free buyers= chomping at bit to get in, which means that we have to find somewhere in next week or so or seriously consider renting"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
So sorry to hear that Az, and at such a late stage  No wonder you're fed up
Sorry to hear about your purchase too Grimbal - we are a bit worried that ours may be a bit like that when we come to buy. Was going to say that maybe they'll relent a bit as time goes on but IIRC yours have been on the market for ages? It does amaze me why some people put their houses up for sale when it seems they don't sctually want to sell (ref. yup, our has been a "difficult" sell: first EAs really rubbish, second EAs pulled their finger out & got people around to view which, when you have a town house, is quite often a difficult ask. A lot of people simply won't consider a 3 storey place initially, but when they view the actual space they like it.
Aaaanyway, upshot is that it took us a year to sell. Luckily we have managed to get chain free buyers which is great - but it does mean we don't want to annoy them. So, reality is find somewhere very soon (and there is nothing on the market that comes close to that place we love) or rent for indeterminate amount of time.
I am so frustrated at the vendors of the place we like. They've been on since April, with no interst at all apart from us, their EAs are telling them it's a good offer & they're still being stubborn !"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
oops, missed Az's post: very sorry that that's happened. Sometimes people are just very odd. I'll never understand why people sometimes do the things they do"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510

Sorry, my bad - I meant that I thought your potential purchase had been on the market for ages, just reread and I wasn't clear. Don't want you to think I'm being rude by saying yours was on for ages(even if I meant that I'd put it a bit more tactfully!!). The time they've been on the market (6 months) isn't as long as I thought but it's a long time to not have any interest at all so you'd think they might have a think about it at least. Still, sounds like you have a great buyer so one half of the equation is looking good

Az - really sorry, you have had such a rotten time of it. And sympathy for anyone else who is struggling!
I've got a much less important niggle - we are still waiting for some sunshine for the EA to take new pictures of the house. And it is driving me crazy trying to remember to arrange the curtains in the front windows neatly every morning just in case today is the day!0 -

no no, not at all I think I got wrong end of stick too ! I'd actually agree with it being a long drawn out process for both of the property owners - me on a year and have just got a buyer & them on 6 months or so & having no interest apart from us. Just can't get my head around the attitude of the vendors - 2 houses in the same road sold this year for nowhere near the notional price he has in his head. I'm resigned to the fact that he is a bit of a timewaster and not comitted / realistic at all about selling"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
Grimbal cant you look at a bigger area?0
