A message to Westlondonbuyer, Notloaded, and other like minded members- can we please stick to the original purpose of this thread?
This is a current sellers help, advice and support thread, not a board to discuss past buying experiences and make tit for tat arguments against individuals; none of which will help anyone in the process now.

Read my other posts on this thread and others to which I've contributed. I'm not looking at houses that I can't afford. I'm not looking for a bargain. You're really giving away your own insecurities here, aren't you?
Nothing is selling here, even though this is one of the most affluent areas of the UK, full of bankers and lawyers and doctors, and supposedly full of appeal to investment buyers and Eurozone. *That* is how I know my local market is overpriced. Yours may be different, in which case good luck with your sale. Come back and tell us all about it when you're done.
I suspect most people who have been on the market for a few months know that if they dropped the price their property would sell. The problem is for many is that there is only so far they can drop it before it makes no sense to sell and therefore for these people they can only hope the market picks up.
I get the impression that this thread for some is more of a place to vent frustration/feel that they are not alone with their selling problems etc.0 -
Hi, new here! Congratulations Jstallan0

You obviousy haven't been here long...it's not about tit for tat arguments...Westlondonbuyer is one in a series of people out to cause trouble on these threads including personal attacks on certain individuals including myself in the last few months.
Not loaded and myself are trying to keep things on topic which is why these things happen...I suggest you target your anger at the real trouble makers and the trolls and such like that come on these threads rather than moaning at the people trying to get shot of them.
I am hoping the problem will soon be dealt with and we will back on topic shortly..
FYI, i've been following this thread for ages, principally because I shall be putting my house up for sale next spring, and on the rare occasion I can offer advice/opinion that just might be useful I have done so.
I have no anger at all, just a despair that a very useful thread is in danger of being sidetracked by wlb's posts and others reaction to them - if you ignore him/her the problem will go away as getting no reaction will cause he/she to move on elsewhere.
That is it on that subject from me, otherwise I will also become guilty of the same behaviour!0 -

I already have done that as you'll see from my previous posts...We all despair that this thread is beng taken off topic by some individuals intent on giving their two pence...
It is has been harder for some of us when the attacks have become personal so you'll understand why it has been difficult for us especially the ones whose houses have been on a for while so please bear with us.0 -

Estate agents. You have to love their optimism. Do they really think the fact some poeple are on holidays is a reason why houses aren't selling?
Nothing to do then with the lack of people getting mortagages? Poeple in fear of their jobs. The massive cust that are just around the corner.
The summer is almost over and we all know what happens to house sales during the dark winter months.0 -
Maybe you should move on because you are NOT SELLING and this is a seller's support thread. You come in here as a buyer and all you tell us is to lower our prices, that is not really what we need right now. we need some support, not someone telling us to just go lower
I was a seller until a very short time ago, and I'm sure you will be a buyer yourself very soon. Price expectations, presentation expectations and estate agent relationships are key to the process, and it's helpful for all parties to see the situation from their opposite number's point of view. We actually have a great deal to learn from each other.
I needed practical help when I sold as well as support and sympathy. Please do see my other posts and contribution to other threads to see that I am not a troublemaker or indeed out to disrupt this thread.0 -

No, actually, I was a buyer last year. One property we pulled out because of a massive damp problem and the other we bough last November.
I am just a seller, no chain, just want to get rid of the flat but NOT by lowering the price 50 times and while I am willing to go to 2006/7 prices I am not going below that.
But because of the way the people work, I can't list my flat at what I would accept as no-one would feel they are getting a bargain, so I am having to list it over what I would accept so people can take 5% or whatever and feel all happy with themselves...
I was not saying you are a troublemaker, but it was grating a bit to see all the comments from someone who has sold already and seems to think now all sellers are evil and just in it for the money0 -
I'm not getting into this disagreement, but I'd observe that there is another channel on this site where prices, attitudes and future trends may be discussed. From Martin's POV it is an embarrassing rough-house, so one has to be signed in to access the Debate House Prices & Economy board. However, although some members are rude, there's a wealth of info there behind all the slanging.
It was the Debate Board that I first came to when selling. It took me right out of my comfort zone, but I'm very grateful that it did. From it I gained a better understanding of what was happening and a strategy for the future. I made some really good cyber-friends over there, several of whom I still chat with, away from MSE.
Could be worth a look if you feel that this board is not meeting your needs.0 -
I don't hang out on that board for all the reasons you mentioned, Davesnave. No-one on there has any intention of buying until the market drops 20%, 30%, 50%... the rest of us would just like a home!0
