Hi all, hope you're all having a busy weekend of viewers - or else a viewer free weekend with no tidying up needed!
I was wondering if any of you get the feeling that people are waiting until after the election to do anything? We've accepted an offer on our house, but don't have anywhere to go at the moment, and the EAs are saying that they aren't very busy with valuations next week. I'm really hoping that will change once this week is over. I don't really want to have to rent, but nor do I want to compromise on the things we're moving for.
I've resorted to getting loads of movies to watch this weekend for a bit of escapism, and to try and stop myself worrying about houses/house prices etc. I'm not surprised they say moving house is one of the most stressful things you ever do - I'm demented already.:p0 -
I'm passing my time by making sure that all I have in my house is what I want to pay to have shifted to the next house! I do agree the election is making a bit of a difference - the estate agents are busy, but I don't see any houses going off list, so to speak.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hiya, I have the same concerns that people might be waiting to see what happens before going ahead with house purchasing/viewing/selling...it's all gone a bit quiet on my end, whereas up until about 2 weeks ago it was full steam ahead. Will be interesting to see what happens. I just hope it's good news for sellers and buyers rather than bad :S

Just wanted to say hello and join you here in this (brill) sellers support thread! We've only been up for sale for three weeks but already I've had enough, and fed up
The few viewings we've had haven't given any proper feedback (3rd bedroom not big enough - they had the details with sizes! or 'it's not for us' fair enough but not helpful to us, oh well) We've also had 2 veiwings that just didn't bother to turn up - after I'd flaffed around cleaning and tidying for 3 hours, and had the coffee brewing and the (mega-expensive) vanilla-blooming-pods in the oven warming! and the one that really got me going was friday evening, she turned up half an hour late without even an apology, and when I questioned the viewing time she said "oh, I decided to go shopping first"
So, you all have my sympathy with trying to sell in these very difficult times. We've tried to price our property favourably for a quick sale but still no luck yet (I know that 3 weeks is nothing but we have to sell urgently due to needing level access for our youngest child who is disabled and cannot walk, my back cannot take much more of the lifting and stairs)
I just wondered if anyone here has had any experience of the companies who offer to buy your house if you need a quick sale? Are they worth approaching or are their offers laughable?
Good luck to each and every one of you! :kisses3:

You got it in one. We contacted one before we put our property on the market just for a LARF & that's what we got. Our property went on at £169595 their offer............ 123K Some poor sods will possibly be in the unenviable position to have to take it, but not us.

Grandma, I think many of us have pondered the 'cash buyers/quick sale' question - I too asked the q when I was looking at all options in the early stages of the game, but what they offer you is appallingly low, and should only be considered if someone is absolutely desperate. You'd be far better off dropping the price on your house considerably, and the house has a much better chance of being snapped up at the lower price, than you giving it away for 20-30% less than market-value to those companies.

I thought as much but thought I'd ask anyway. I just wish we weren't in such a necessary hurry to get a quick sale. And I wish, I wish, I wish, that the market was better for all of us and that all of us could sell our houses without any hassle.Lucky Mum to 4 fabulous kids aged 23, 20, 14 and 3. I agree with Azkaban - and of course, anything you can do to make your house more appealing when you're selling - tidying, decluttering, finishing off odd diy jobs. Of course, I say that, but my own experience has been a bit different - I'm selling mine as a fixer-upper, so I *have* tidied and decluttered, but no real diy-finishing has been done. Still, as a general rule, I think it holds - and I'm still working on the garden, to be sure.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hey I'm hoping to join you guys on here... really need some advice.
Our house has been on the market since Feb. It is priced amongst the others in the area but we have had NO viewings. Our estate agent has said that this is the case for all of their houses at the moment, everything seems very quiet and blames the election. But I'm concerned that we've not even had 1 person through our door in 3 months!
I'm concerned about lowering the price without waiting for the election to be over and I'm starting to lose any form of drive to be enthusiastic about selling now. I've repainted the kitchen, we've just had the bathroom done, we have a brand new heating system so have put a lot into this house.
Today I'm going to paint the bedroom to try to freshen it up a bit and think I may get the estate agent to take some new pictures.
Any other advice at all? Do you think we should drop the price to get more people interested?0
