When I then received my £10 email code to use on the direct website for a £9.00 toy purchase, and was not bothered about the £1 loss; it was refused.
Upon calling the clubcard line I was told that the voucher can only be used for item priced £10.00 or more (not less), I am unable to find a toy for this price that is wanted and therefore the voucher (code) is worthless to me. Tesco are refusing to re-credit it to my account as they class it as spent (even though it isn't and they clearly know it isn't).
Therefore I have now lost £5.00 in clubcard vouchers.
Tesco claim it is CLEARLY shown in the terms and conditions but nowhere did it state that when I tried to order it, and I am struggling to find it anywhere in the mailing.
Needless to say I am very unhappy with Tesco

First your clubcard voucher is spent, and they know it. It is the Voucher Exchange token that you haven't spent.
Secondly, all you have to do is order the item you want, and add to the order an inexpensive item to take it over the £10.00.
Thirdly, if you look again at the Clubcard Voucher Exchange guide - see back page - Questions & Answers:
Item 9 - Q: Can I get change when spending my reward tokens?
A: No, the valueof the items you buy with your reward tokens must be equal to or exceed the value of the rewards tokens after any discounts have been applied.

Exactly what I meant in my posting (they can check if I have spent the exchange token, and will see that I haven't)

Could not find a 'cheap' and suitable item in the same department.

I didn't want nor expect change, that was never the issue, I just wanted to buy an item priced £9.00 and it seems VERY petty of Tesco to do this for the sake of a difference of just £1.00

I was simply warning others to beware of this tesco 'loophole' which is not obvious. I'm guessing you are an employee

"Tesco wrote to the people who had record of doing 'deals', explaining the new rate, and when the November vouchers would be received by (assuming they had the right address).
So don't understand what you were expecting .... how can they speed it up!? "

Obviously I don't know how they can speed it up, hence the question. It shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to send specific ones out at the start of the process, if requested - it's just that there's nothing in it for Tesco, so they probably have no process.

I just thought it worth asking and avoiding risking my booked holiday. Until I get the vouchers, I can't get the tokens; until I get the tokens, the booking is at risk. £70 of vouchers, worth (for a few more weeks) £280 off the cash price - worth the question, no?

    :o

Going back to my 'first' point you've missed the distinction between the two - they can see that the original CC voucher has been used - converted into 'Exchange token' but are unable to see when or if the Exchange token is used.

How are Tesco going to differentiate between people who want change, and those that don't? At what value level do the set it? Otherwise you could have someone (to use an extreme example) buys something for £1.00 and expects change of £9.00 i.e. £4.00 of free money.
The 'condition' was at the last Voucher Exchange - nothing new.

About another four weeks, to go to find alternative toys, or return the token for credit.

I got caught out today; my vouchers arrived and I used a £6.50 (my smallest denominator voucher) in the clubcard voucher exchange promotion. The amount of £5.00 was transferred into £10 in deals to use on toys on tesco direct. The remaining £1.50 was refunded to my clubcard account for future use.
When I then received my £10 email code to use on the direct website for a £9.00 toy purchase, and was not bothered about the £1 loss; it was refused.

Buy a toy for £10 or just over and take it back to store and swap it for the one you want or get a refund. But I think if you get a cash refund you will only get the £5 refund, that is what happened last time anyway. You could always take back without a receipt though;)
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Thank you for the helpful, non judgemental response, I might have to do that. I wish I had never started it now, and just used my clubcard voucher towards groceries or something!!

As for change....the point was they don't need to give change, if they just take the exchange token for whatever purchases people want to make and not give change no matter what, that would be simpler
And I am sure there are ways of checking if a token has been used just the same (via code supplied for use) as there is to check the clubcard voucher has been used

I have never used the exchange feature before. Oh well we can't all be perfect like you can we :tongue:

Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered; I searched the site but couldn't find anything relevant.

Can Tesco vouchers be used for hotel bookings for a single occupier?

The various details on the Tesco Clubcard site all mention "Tokens are only valid against a 2 night weekend stay for 2 people" or something very similar - but has anyone successfully used them for a single-occupied stay (at a price less than for two, I mean)? And if so, how do the prices compare?

    Many thanks.
  • I am going to end up with 110 worth of rewards vouchers for hotels, looks like i wont need them now but can i use them for other rewards on the site such as days out etc etc?

Appreciate it will have been asked before but i cant find it!
