well its my boyfriends computer so as long as its low risk it'll b fine0

Yes, it'll be fine...what I'm going to do is help you download a programme that will copy a DVD to the hard drive on the PC. Then we'll play the file direct from the PC, and see whether it still jogs. If it jogs, it's the DVD program, if it doesn't, we can be pretty certain it's the drive.
Firstly, go to http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/dvddec.html Halfway down the page, in red, there's a link that says "SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe". Use your right mouse button to click on it, then left-click 'Save Target As..." and save it somewhere you know is ok to put files.
Once you've done that, go to that file and double click the file that's just downloaded. That should start the installation. Let me know when it's installed?0 -
it doesn't say save target as but it says save link as, is that the same thing?0
-
ok i've managed to install it0

Ok - excellent. Pop a DVD in your drive - a proper film would be good. Then go to the program list and start DVD Decrypter, which is what you've just installed.
When it loads up, click on 'Mode' (top left of the program window), then click 'IFO' in the menu that appears. Then click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and click on 'Settings' in the menu that appears.
In the window that is now displayed, there are lots of tabs along the top. Click on the one marked 'IFO Mode'. Within the main part of the window - towards the left - there is a box that says 'File Splitting' next to it. Change that to 'None'. Then click OK until you're back down to the first window. Let me know when you're there?0 -
ok i'm there0

Excellent! Ok - on the right hand side of the window you're now looking at, you should see a list of chapters. Hopefully, one should already be highlighted in blue. If none are highlighted, pick one at random.
Now click on the 'Stream Processing' tab just above that window. Then click in the 'Enable Stream Processing' box (just underneath) to put a tick in it. The list beneath that should now be full of Audio, Video and Subtitle entries. Click on boxes to untick them all - but leave a tick in one 'Video' entry and one 'Audio' entry.
Lastly, take note of what it says underneath 'Destination' on the right, then click the big button underneath Destination where it has a picture of a DVD.
A progress bar will appear as the DVD copies to the PC. Let me know when it's done?0 -
Sir_Bargains-A-Lot thinking exaclty the same was i wasWaddle you do eh?0
-
right i think i've worked all that out its just copying now0
-
Kez - when it copies, go to the place on the computer that DVD Decrypter shows as the 'destination'. In there, there'll be a VOB file. Double click that, and it should open the film you've copied, and with any luck it'll open in your usual DVD program. How's it looking/sounding now?0
