Hi Fatou, yes, I managed to get an account with C&G (C&G Gold Account) - they said that the CAB were also recommending them to BRs as they don't do a credit check, you just need to take 2 forms of ID such as driving license and telephone bill with you address details on it.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I've read on at least one ocassion the Co-Op still letting a BR who owes them money (or did owe them money until BR) open a Cashminder, amazing (in a good way) but true, not sure if thats the norm though, good luck.

The Co-op used to accept people who owed them money, but changed their policy in the latter part of last year.

Thanks to all the help, Certainly things to look at. Being able to get my benefits would certainly be a start.

I have just been into my local Barclays and they told me that I won't be able to appeal. It is a definate no!

Looks like a visit to C&G or Yorkshire on Tuesday.

yes they change their policy around July 2008 and i dicovered that after my Br order was made . aparently it is due to their new security measure as they have put it to me in their not so lovely letter. moreover they carried out a 3 strike out policy wether it is your fault or not , not that very friendly in my book !

    Hi Fatou

They stated that my "application did not satisfy their acceptance criteria for the product", whatever that means.

They go on to say "In reaching this decision, we made a search at Equifax"

    Thanks

    Hi Matt,

Damn banks are a law unto themselves! (especially Barclays!!)

Let me know how you get on at C&G & Yorkshire - good luck!
