Hand luggage and clear platic bag queries

Hi,

We will be travelling for the first time with Easyjet just using hand luggage and on-line check-in.

Q1. Do we still need to go to the Easyjet check-in desk to show them our tickets OR do we proceed straight to departure ie. security checks, immigration, etc?

We only have resealable 19 cm X 24 cm clear plastic bags at home. We are travelling via Gatwick airport. Reading on the internet, it said the bag should be 20 cm X 20 cm for the bottle of liquids. How stringent are there about the plastic bag size.

Q2. Should we go and buy the correct plastic bag size OR any there always a supply of plastic bags at Gatwick airport?

Thank you.

    Hi
I've only done online check-in with hand luggage only with Ryanair (i.e. the same situation as you) but we went straight to Security.
You have your boarding pass so there is no need to go to the check-in desk.

I think some airports have been fairly strict with the size of plastic bags but we travelled through Gatwick a couple of weeks ago and they were issuing free bags as you entered Security for those people who didn't have them.

I've been told that my bag was too big at Gatwick, so they appear to be briefed on it, got one that is 18 x 20cm now.

We had problems with the size of our clear bags. We flew from Liverpool and when we went through security i went through o.k other than getting stopped to check my hand luggage and searched! but my husband got stopped and was told he wasn't allowed his clear bag through and either had to get another bag right size which were in vending machines for 50p( i think) which were miles away from security or he would have to forfeit his stuff. The guy that was checking my luggage went over because i had told him he was with me and mine had gone through o.k etc and said he would let it go on this occasion.
So in short, do not leave it to chance. It stressed me out a bit and will not be doing it again.
Also online check in you go straight to security etc but still allow plenty of time as they still are busy.

A lot of airports have stopped giving them out now.
So you are best getting one before you go.

I seen an old lady that was going to get a lot of toiletries taken away from her, she did have one plastic bag but it was full.
I wasn't using my plastic bag so I passed it to her & they allowed it??

I think it depends on who you get?

Best to be safe than sorry.

Some airports are still giving them away free, some others are charging 50p in a vending machine.

Some - like Doncaster are charging £1!!!!

Unless its a long haul flight - pack all liquids in the suitcase. You will survive without your mascara and lippy for a few hours ;)

Thanks for all the feed back. Have gone out and bought some resealable freezer bags that are within the size.

We have just measured our hand luggage. 2 are within the size limit. However, a 3rd smaller shorter bag actually have wheels which make it to be 22cm as opposed to 20 cm.

    Q. How stringent is Easyjet with their hand luggage size ie. do they make everyone put their bags in the metal size thingy?

We will be doing on-line check-in. My worry is that we would have gone through immigration, security checks and just before boarding the plane, someone form Easyjet telling us that we cannot board the plane! I have just 1 day left to buy a bag before flying on Monday morning.

    Thanks.

I am flying with Thomas Cook in June. I have not flown in 5years and in all honesty do not have a clue on what I can and cannot take. That’s including sizes. This is probably daft and obvious question but is there a comprehensive list any where? I never realised your hand luggage had to be a certain size either. Well obviously I knew it had to be capable of being handheld. Thanks for help :)

LGW and LHR are still giving them out if it helps.
went through LGW the other day and got a new one. I fly every week and for some reason, I manage to loose or break my little bag :-0)
