Morning all
2 little ones here at the moment - both happily playing with the play food and organising a picnic for the dolls....got another childminder coming in a bit for coffee and to let all 5 kids have a social morning....lovely to see them all sharing.
DD1 is making bread at school on Friday - spoke to her teacher to see if they need some spare mixing bowls etc to borrow and he said that DD1 was the only child in the class that knew what all the ingredients were when they tasted them yesterday.......he was so impressed he's put her in the honours book and given her extra house points......she was chuffed to bits and couldn't understand why no one else knew what flour and yeast was.
Might do some baking this afternoon - depending on nap times and school runs, something simple that they can take home, choccy fairy cakes always go down well.
Brekkie - toasted HM rolls
Lunch - Spicy chicken and red peppers in mayo
Dinner - yet to be decided - jacket potatoes and sausages I think.

Morning all
Lovely day here, though cold.
DS has friend staying here at the moment, so just waiting for them to emerge (DS has just come down & said hello as I am typing)
Washing out on line, D/w emptied, house moderately tidy & clean.
I need to start on the garden next. DH is building me 2 raised beds for veggies - our garden is tiny, but I feel deprived if I don't have any fresh vegetables growing. tbh I would far rather have those than flowers, although a garden without daffodils would be a rather lonely place! I have a greenhouse where we grow tomatoes & cucumbers, but am planning to grow a reasonable selection of other veg in my 2 raised beds.

hi everyone
had a bad start today when we appeared to have lost our water supply..... not even enough pressure to fill up the toilet to flush it.... the water board know about a leak and should have it fixed today - i'm a lot calmer now than I was at 8am trying to work out why we had no water and leave for work in time!
off for a cuppa now (oh - and btw - well done PP - that sounds like a ridiculously high mark, i'm very impressed!!):happyhear0 -
Well I seem to have broken up with my BF. Don't worry - no ((hugs)) required - all my idea and he agreed with me and I'm sure we'll remain very close friends. Watch this space though, because we had an "amicable break up" once before - initiated by him - and then the next day he sent me a really mean email making it very clear to me that I was basically no longer welcome in his life at all! I think we've moved on since then though
and I think we're still going on holiday together at the start of next month. Enjoying each other's company hasn't changed at all, we're just sooooooo incompatible in terms of "couple stuff" and general life goals, you wouldn't believe. I found my "comfort zone" when I was 21 and achieved my only ambition, which was to move to London, get a job with a salary I could basically live on, and go to lots of shows. He is considerably older and richer than me and still doesn't know what he wants.
On other matters...
You know how sometimes you wake up in the morning with a "thought" having just popped into your head? As I roused from my slumbers this morning my brain suddenly went "I bet I know why MATH calls himself MATH!" :rotfl: (MATH, hun, does it by any chance stand for "Man About the House"? Perhaps this was already perfectly obvious to everybody except me...) Hope you're feeling more positive this morning :grouphug:
PP - do try not to worry about your DD, I've travelled into London nearly every day since August 1999 and nobody's tried to blow me up yetWell done on your assignment, 89% is BRILLIANT! The only danger is that if you get 87% on your next one, you'll feel like a failure :rotfl: (as happened to me in subsequent grades after getting 138 out of 150 on my Grade 5 Singing exam!)
We've had our council tax bill too, it's up by £8 a month (from £124 to £132) which could be worse I suppose. Of course this is only £4 a month for me to find as housemate and I split the bill down the middle. I'll be interested to hear what happens in the Budget. Anything that might make it easier for me as a first-time buyer to buy the sort of flat I want, without encouraging every other first-time buyer in London to want the same flat and pushing the prices out of my reach, will be welcome news! The sort of places I'll be looking at are below the stamp duty threshold and I'd like them to stay that way...
I'm going to have to have a takeaway lunch - baked spud or curry - as I've run out of lunch portions of home cooked foodbut I've taken some chicken out of the freezer so this evening I will be trying out one of the recipes for chicken pie from the thread I started yesterday. And some sort of fruit salad for pud, as I have a mango and a papaya in the fridge that have been there for over a week.
((((HUGS)))) to anybody that needs them.

MATH & MRS MATH I am so sorry you're having such a tough time at the moment, I hope things soon improve for you all:grouphug:

Off to work soon, am taking 2 service users to the hydrotherapy pool in Hereford followed by lunch out at a pub so a hard days work lined up for me
Catch up later all
Bye:wave:Do what you love :happyhear0 -

Morning all :grouphug:
Not had time to read through the thread again as I'm really busy today! Only here while I double check credit card balance online. OH managed to get a balance transfer from his HSBC card to his new EGG card last night, now we just have to wait until it shows up (7 days apparently). BUT (and there's always a BUT isn't there  ) his credit limit isn't high enough to shift the balance from my card as well  He's just £300 short on his limit, so I'm updating my Excel spreadsheet of my credit card to see how much we'll have left on my card and then try and work out how best to use the tax-refund from last month. Do we keep it and use it to give DD a fabulous birthday or do we use it to pay a huge chunk (maybe up to 50%!) off my remaining balance on my credit card (We'll transfer as much as we can to the EGG card)?By my calculations we're going to struggle to make the minimum payments on the EGG card unless we pay off mine as much as possible so I think DD will be having a budget birthday at this rate  Oh well, we'll have to see. Time to start working out the formulas for interest costs and minimum payments again  Also need to set up a seperate sheet for the EGG card now. Isn't it a good job I like maths and forumlas
WM on it's second load, 1st (towels) is out on the line blowing as it's glorious sunshine today, just wish we had the temperatures to match! 1 batch of dishes done, another 2/3 to go since OH didn't do the washing up from last night like he promised me he would  I hate washing up, when we finally get our own house I'm going to make sure there is room for a dishwasher instead of me! :rotfl: Beds are made, I have items that need to be handwashed before dispatch for ebay, so they are next on my list after all the dishes are done. Also need to iron them so that will have to be done tonight, and since there doesn't appear to be anything on TV I'll probably watch Harry Potter & the chamber of secrets while I do them
Tomorrow is a 10p listing day on ebay so I'll probably end up spending tomorrow doing that with the last dozen or so items so I've decided I want everything done and dusted today so I can spend Friday working on a menu plan based on the storecupboard and freezer. BUT, there it is again, I've only just remembered I'm supposed to be in school this afternoon to a "launch of the Willow Ship" with a Year 1 class  Sometime last year they had a living willow ship planted in their school yard and today is the official launch but at least it isn't until 2.30pm. I'm going to go a little earlier though as I want to have a word with one of the admin staff as I need some stuff for the school website, and it would help a great deal if they had it on disk or something for me to bring home. It could take care of a number of days worth of work if they have what I want on disk saving me so much time I can't help but ask
Right better get on with the Excel spreadsheet. Then I think I might go for a bath after this washing has finished so I'll look a bit more presentable for this launch this afternoon:wave:

Morning all. Congratulations to all those with good test results, well done you!
Well done to Bargain Rzl as well, sounds like you and BF have come to a remarkably amicable agreement in time to avoid all the nastiness that goes with letting a mis-match slide into the dead zone!
Its a lovely sunny day here, too - but brisk, in the wind. Still not quite nice enough to put the Guinea Pig back out in his outdoor hutch, so he'll stay on the coffee table for a bit longer. He likes it there - he gets to watch the t.v. and thoroughly enjoyed Battlestar Galactica last night.
Received two Ebay purchases today, so the fishes are happy with their two new plastic weeds (£2, worth £4.50 each) and I've got an appointment with the bathroom and a pack of Castings hair colour that I got for £3.50.
Managed to get the vacuuming done yesterday - and made a start on finding my computer desk under the dust. I had a good old de-clutter of it and it felt marvellous.
Todays targets are :
1. to do DS's ironing - which has grown to a large mountain, now that the WM is fixed. Wet washing is draped over every available radiator and there's some just finishing which will join the queue.
2. to vacuum the middle floor again, because the movement of bin bags has left all manner of bits and spots behind it.
3. to vacuum the bedrooms.
Today's kitchen action will comprise :
1. making a chicken savoury rice/risotto for dinner tonight - which is a challenge, because DH hates the packeted savoury rice (or "slavering mice" as its known in our house), so I need to keep away from having it finish up resembling that.
2. encouraging DH to make use of some leftover cream and cheap mushrooms and convert them into soup.
3. cook some plums and apple for breakfast ammunition.
Goodoh, better get on with it all then.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Good Morning Everyone.
Catowen - enjoy the scrambled eggs.
Ronankfan - hope it's not too cold without windows.
Bargain rzl - well done on the amicable break up.
Got the boys to school and went to the recycling depot, bin men come tomorrow and it's not worth them taking the black bag away, just a few bits in the bottom, not bad for a family of 6.
BM on, the frenck stick I made yesterday was lovely (if small) more of a twig than a stick! so making another one today. DS2 requested homemade meatballs so thats what we are having for tea. Treated myself to a pasta machine, will try it out this weekend as the children love helping with the cooking. Also bought DH a food flask, he works very long shifts, the rest of his team buy takeaways but not DH, he has mentioned it would be nice having something warm to eat in the middle of his nightshift so hence the flask, for homemade soup, stew, chilli etc. I intend to use the flask for making yoghurt when he's not at work. So very moneysaving.
Havenot stepped in the supermarket this week (my boycott of the month) managed to get recycled toilet roll (I insist on recycled) a whopping £1.99 cheaper (same brand) than the supermarket at a local discount shop.
Well best go and read some posts before playgroup, it's lovely and sunny here today, but a bit cold, my washing lines are full and the clothes are blowing in a gentle breeze, lovely!
Enjoy the day folksMFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13
