i did apply for a barclay card initial and i was refused :(

I think Barclaycard Initial requires you to earn a minimum of 10k a year, and I presume you don't earn that on benefits?
  • no, i wish tho lol! onli get just over 15,if tht!! lol

    Hiya,

Have you tried one of those charities that supply people on benefits furniture for free or at a very, very low cost? Some people scoff but you can get quality 2nd hand furniture and sometimes ex catalogue items that have been donated.

These charities don't accept junk so you wouldn't be getting something that will fall apart in a couple of weeks.

Have you considered applying for a budgeting loan from the social? I think the max at the moment is £1500.

It's best to take their advice and stay clear of credit cards, for the moment at least. It really is quite difficult to juggle credit card bills, amongst other bills while on benefit, having a child will make it much harder.

It's hard to survive off the very little money you get in benefits and having debt added to that will only spell trouble.

However, if you are really determined to get a credit card, try applying for a Vanquis card which targets people in your situation, but the interest rates will be quite high.

If this is as good as it looks - Why does Martin not mention it on the main site? Not criticising, just can't understand why there is no mention of it as far as I am aware.
