By "real site", I presume you mean a genuine one. That's the thing, I'm asking the question to obtain any knowledge that others on here may have that have experience of this site. That's what its for isn't it?
To be truthful, I'm fairly sure it will be. However, being a belt and braces man(As well as being extremely careful with my money)I like to check things are 100% before diving in. I don't think it would do you any harm to send off a letter to the Credit Reference Agency asking for any information they are willing to give you. Martin does have a section of the site specifically giving advice on what to do in such a situation. Anything incorrect on your credit file is definitely something to be concerned about.
To return to my original point, I've been paying £6 every year to the 3 main credit reference agencies, as suggested by Martin's article, but if I can get one for nothing the £2 I save is better in my pocket. I just can't understand why such an obvious money saver has not been highlighted in the article. Unless, of course, it has, I've missed it and I stand to be corrected.0 -
Ive signed up, i had the option to enter my visa card details or receive a security code by post, i chose the code by post option0

If this is as good as it looks - Why does Martin not mention it on the main site? Not criticising, just can't understand why there is no mention of it as far as I am aware.
It isn't any good at all, i've asked debtdestroyer to stop posting these silly links but I now think he has an ulterior motive on here because he keeps spamming the same old rubbish!
For the record, if you want your credit report then pay £2 statutory fee and get it direct from the people who own the rights and not some third party site who claim this and that when really, they provide less than 30% of your actual credit report and they can also not show any cifas warnings as they are not allowed to display them without cifas approval.
therefore a waste of time. spend £2 and do it right.
Kinda like getting your mum to drive to the pub and buy you a beer, then she comes back with a 3rd of a pint a week later - you'd have been better going yourself and getting the whole pint!2010 - year of the troll

It's no different to the other credit reference agencies. I signed up ages ago and it just holds all the same information as Equifax and Experian. Nothing suspect about it from my experience. I didn't give them card details, they just sent me a code to use. I thought it was ok for a free report.
No aron, it doesn't mate. It holds less than 30% of accurate data and is so out of date it is a waste of time - you may as well write your personal details on some paper and hand flyers out - these sites are all creaming the real deal and cannot do the same as Equifax/Experian - why? because they do not have the rights, they are not a data processor, they are not even registered with the DPA - they simply skim the top layer of the systems, it is a total waste.2010 - year of the troll

Thanks Aron - If it holds Equifax and Experian information then that's only £2 I'll have to shell out. It still begs the question as to why it is not highlighted more prominently on this site. Basically, I've stumbled upon it rather than it being pointed out. Again, I stand to be corrected but I can't find any info on the main article on this site. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, my observational powers match the three mice we sang about as kids:rotfl:
Edit - Just seen your replies never-in-doubt. I must have been posting the above tosh at the same time you were providing a more comprehensive answer than aron. I've thanked you for both posts above - It's the least i could do as I thanked aron for the, inadvertent I'm sure, incorrect information.0 -
You're debt free so i'd keep it that way, perhaps you need some tips on how to cut back and change your life style. Your phone bill is quite high, are you sure you are getting the best pay as you go deal? could you not ask people to phone you back? you can use the phone at the job centre for applying for jobs. And if you need to phone the bank usually theres a phone you can use there. Perhaps a land line might help for the calls that are expensive on a mobile. Be patient with the freecycle because good stuff does come up. The littlewoods catalogue might look good with 0% interest on items but it all has a mark up in the first place, the trainers i wanted were £15 more and the dishwasher and tumble dryer were each £60 more than the shops. Having credit just means more things to juggle. Years ago i was in your situation, can remember being down to my last £5 and the baby needing nappies and needing to buy food too. Can also remember struggling to by my baby calpol. I've forgotten how old your child is, but some of the baby changing in boots, tesco and asda have free nappies and wipes to use, sometimes i would change him there rahter than wait to get home and take an extra nappy too. Life was definitely less stressful back then, when i was debt free, just need to plan more. I think lenders are being more strict about who they lend too now and as you've applied for a couple of things its probably looking like you are desperate for credit. I don't think its very responsible to lend to people on benefits. I hope my words come across as being kind.0

hey guys, I tried that annual credit report site, it doesn't work. well. it didnt for me. apparantly i had to wait for a security code in the post, which came, but once i had waited for a week, logged on with the pin and everything, low and behold it can not be found. i wouldnt do it to be honest, i would much rather pay the £6 a year.Bank Accounts: Natwest - No Overdraft

Good to hear! Pop over to the Debt Free Wanna board even if you have no debts then reading the diaries and challenges will help you focus on improving your position.
Also have a read of the Old Style Moneysaving for making your money go further regards foods etc.
For your job trial tomorrow, keep smiling, never stand still, keep asking what you can do next and explain to all customers its your first day and you'll get them on your side, good luck0
