are you still signing up people you know or are you at the stage where you are cold calling for sales?
I have never gone cold calling as I don't like rejection, or sore feet. About five years ago I did some newspaper advertising and the customers gathered that way just about covered costs plus a few pounds. Had I kept it up, I believe I would now have enough customers for me to afford to not do any other work. I tried the letterboxing system and did not cover costs. Nowadays I listen to people talking and if they mention utilities I offer information on the company. I keep company bumph in my rucksack (I usually walk to work), in the car and on my desk at work. Any customer I get, I ask if they know somebody else who may be interested. I hate hard sell and so I offer information to people who show an interest. Then they can make up their own minds whether it is suitable or not. No pressure on either side is fine by me.

I am a Utility Warehouse distributor.

  • The guy who got my mate into it walks around with one of the badges they give you on, but he wears it upside down so that people notice it and comment on it. Hes actually got a few sales through it too!

The badges say things like "I love my gas bill"!

They are encouraged to buy them over at the uw reps forum where they recount tales of how they get accosted to explain them in the chip shop queue/bank queue etc. This allows them to embark on their well worn sales presentation.

The new ones say "Save 5% on food and fuel" - these are probably the ones that are producing new sales.

More misinformation from a uw rep.

The uw doesn't offer any savings at all on food, and their fuel is amongst the most expensive.

eg See this post where they had 56 other tariffs from other companies list ahead of them:

Lol, I've just seen the new French & Saunders promo video on the UW cashback card and I'm convinced Quentin must have written Jennifer Saunders' part - one of the reasons she didn't like it was because it was made of plastic. :D

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??

More misunderstanding from a uw detractor.

The badge, as you well know, refers to savings at Sainsbury's, but obviously it just provides you another opportunity to misquote.

    PS no apology expected.

How do you get any money off your food at Sainsburys if you are a uw customer?

You have to pay the same for your food whether or not you are a uw customer.

So what do you expect an apology for?

It seems just another attempt by a uw rep to use these forums to mislead.

You are just being pedantic, it's a badge, not a misleading post, unlike yours.

    Stll no apology expected.

Just another attempt by a uw detractor to get their post count up (as I can't think of another reason for continuing this diatribe).

You are avoiding answering the questions!

If you come and use these forums to promote your company, then expect to be questioned on the misleading claims you make (even if they are written on a badge!)
