You can also fill out and send the application form online, which is a lot easier if you don't need to annotate any parts of the form.

If you sign up online and send the form on paper then make sure you put the ART ID the online system gives you in the box on the form so they can match them up.

does any one know the timescale from applying to receiving notification....
ie my eldest daughter applied online, and my wife and i are applyingas support for her, but we cant complete our applications until we receive an alias-id for my daughter, so the 3 accounts can be linked.
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • Hi just wanted to ask about student loan that the deadline for applications is in june and now I am staying in uk with dad on work permit. It will be five years in november when we will apply for indefinite to remain. My older sister tried to apply for loan but it got regected a year before so I wanted to know that I have got unconditional offer at metropoliton uni and I know the loan will get rejected if I apply and there is a greater chance that I will get indefinite to remain and don't want to waste a year. so what should I do. The uni will put me under overseas, and I know for sure they won't change the status to leave to remain once they put me under overseas. And I don't think the lea will let me apply then. plz help me I am so confused at what should I do plz.

It should have given you the Alias ID at the end of the application when your daughter applied online. It did in my case anyway. Otherwise they do take a while to send stuff out I have been told to allow upto 10 working days for things to arrive from them before.
  • hi slc , i am thinking of doing another degree so i will be a second degree applicant...and as optometry is exempt unlike medicine and dentistry i have been told i will be charged the full tuition fee 9k per academic year!:O(is there any way the government can help me fund this? what would you recommend? my parents earn a low income...will i be entitled to a grant? they earn less than 25 k a year. also, would i be entitled to a grant for course im studying at the moment? i only just found about grants. please please let me know!

Hey people, I am just about to fill out my application but I have a few questions.

My parents can if they need to, not take out any loans for university, if they really need to but do they have to?

Can they place the money in an ISA or something and then just pay the money off after I finish university?

There is also another issue, after univeristy I am applying to go to a flight school, which has an agreement with HSBC, where the students take a £50,000 loan from, HSBC to pay for the training, it will be secured onto their house. Will the fact that I have a student loan affect my chances of getting this loan?

    Thanks!

It is not the parents who take out the loan, it is the student. Parents don't get their hands on any of the money. The student doesn't have to take any of the loan, or they can choose to take only part of it.

Once the student receives the maintenance money, they can do what they like with it. The tuition fee loan is only payable to the university.
