Sarah Brown,
If you look on the student finance website it says:
'Please note: The online application service for 07/08 has now closed. You may still apply using a paper application, and can download an application form from the Forms and Guides page. Alternatively you can get an application form by contacting your Local Authority.'
so you should be able to get it, though as applications for 08/09 are being sorted at the moment I'm not sure whether your LEA will rush yours through or just add it to the queue.
You need to make it really clear it is an 07/08 application - either hand it in in person or ring a few days after you submit it to check they are aware it is 07/08 and ask for an approx timescale. The LEA gets lots of apps at this time of the year and you need to make sure it doesn't get put with the 08/09 ones (sometimes people do apply on old forms for the new year!). Best to make sure an admin error doesn't delay your application.0 -

Im near the end of my 3rd year but have been quite ill recently. I am waiting to hear If I can suspend my studies and restart next year as if It were the first time.
The problem is, I have done this before. I had a baby during examination period and failed 2 year.
So I have now received funding and my tution fee's for 4 years, would I be able to apply for a 5th year? (If im allowed to restart next year)
Am I right in saying the following:
The course is 3 years long.
You studied year 1 as normal
you started year 2 but did not complete it due to your baby
You repeated year 2.
you are now in year 3, but are unable to complete the year due to illness.
You intend to restart year 3 in 08/09?
If this is the case, as you have said you need to get the Uni's permission to suspend and restart.
You also need to apply for 08/09 asap (you can withdraw the 08/09 LEA application is you don't go through with this).
In the 08/09 application, you will need to make clear you are resitting the 3rd year and enclose a letter that details your 'compelling personal reasons' for not completing this year and when you had to leave and restart year 2.
Only the LEA can say what your entitlement will be but I would guess at the very least you will qualify for maintenance loan only for the repeat year 3 (meaning you wouldn't get any higher education/ maintenace grant or tuition fee help). If your case for 'compelling personal reasons' goes through then you may also become entitled to fee and grant help. Definitely worth applying though.0 -

It seems to randomly come and go. Its because there system is absolute rubbish they have had years to sort it out yet its still like this. They need to get the people who did the UCAS site to do it for them, thats a good robust site never had any problems with that.0 -

I've found my LEA seem to respond very quickly and are very helpful. I just contact them about my application if there are any problems.0 -
Hi
I am currently working 4 days per week (32 hours) on nearly minimun wage, in addition i recently enrolled on a distance learning course in sport and recreation mangement (level 4). I was wondering if there is any way that i can apply for any funding/grants towards the course fee and/or books etc? I have looked at the PTG1 form, but am i eligable?

You can change the bank details on SFD website later on if you need to. If you open a student account with the same bank as you're at now, the account number will usually stay the same.
HSBC will open a Student Account at age 17 with a UCAS Welcome Letter. The offer isn't very good though - £15 UCAS Fee Refund. Nothing stopping you opening this account now, getting £15 then closing it nearer August and opening a student account elsewhere to get their offer.0 -
just put your current account number - my eldest daughter only has a very basic bank account with nationwide and has put that number down, but will change it nearer the time, once the banks have produced there enticing offers for student bank accountssmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
