okay, then it might be that they haven't put your documents onto your account yet or you have a massive stash of cash in the bank!
This means that you'll get at least some funding at the start of term, but that there might be some more to come.0 -
hello all
this is my first post on MSE but ive been a regular on the mailing list for a while now. I was made redundant in July 09 and have been considering going back to university and doing a second degree, but my biggest concern is whether I would qualify for funding or not.
When I did my first degree, I was an international student and therefore was not eligible to recieve funding from the SLC/LEA, however I now have a UK passport and I consider this to be my first application for funding support.
Does the gov/SLC/LEA see this the same way or am I not eligible for funding through a student loan?
Thank you for your advice!0 -
Hello
I don't know if this has already been mentioned in this thread but does someone have the address for Student Loan Repayment?
I've been in full time employment earning over £15,000 (nearly double) since leaving university in 2003 yet I have only cleared about £500 off my loan so far which I am sure cannot be right. I have tried to log onto their website which doesn't work and tried calling but i don't have a spare day to spend the whole day on hold! So I guess I will have to write to them as a last resort to try and sort it out.
Many thanks0 -
Sure my daughter won't get maintenance grant due to husbands salary so not applied for it but assumed she would get full £4950 maintenance loan (as assume this reduced by amount of grant if given) however on directgov estimator gizmo says she would get around £3,500. Why is this? She is living away from home and doing fulltime course.0

£4950 is if you are living in London. Its around £3.3/3.5k if you are outside London.0 -

There is a contact thing at the bottom but only phone numbers, the main address is:
The Student Loans Company Ltd
100 Bothwell Street

But the company is quite big so not sure the correct department.0 -
Hello, my brother and I have always had non-income assessed student finance in the past, and I initially applied for this for the coming year. However, my parents' income has significantly changed since then and I would now be entitled to a grant if my application was income assessed. Is there any way to change things at this stage?0

Print a change of circumstances form from the website and sent it in. They will reassess, but you might get it later then usual.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -

When you say a second degree, do you mean another undergraduate degree or a postgraduate?0 -

You will not get funding for a second undergraduate degree regardless of whether you self-funded your first degree or not unless it is in a specific area such as nursing. This is a new rule that was introduced last year.
Funding for postgraduate courses is completely different and in some cases very hard to come by.0
