    Yes you can transfer money instantly to the entropay visa electron card from a credit card and then you can shop online just the same has though you had one in your hand. It is a virtual card so you can only shop online with it you do not physically get a plastic card. for every £10 you load you are charged 50p but much better than paying credit card fee's for flights and if you have any money left over just spend it on line. I would recommend it.

    thank you. So loading £100 would cost £5?

    As for a hotel in Dublin - pressume you want a money saving one? We stay at the Abbey Hotel on Abbey street, 3 mins walk to O'Connell street, 3 mins from the nearest tram stop and about 5 mins from the airport bus stop. I book through Hotels.com (quidco cashback of 10%), usually comes to between £36 and £45 for one night for a double room, very clean, lovely bedding etc, and about a gazillion tv channels and free wi-fi if that's a need. e7.50 for a full irish breakfast with cereal and toast too. Friendly staff, nice little hotel for a budget stay, depends on what you are looking for.

    Does anyone know if there's a way of getting an electron card where the currency is in Euros to avoid having to pay foreign currency fees when booking in Euros? If the flight is to the UK and cheap enough (ie 1p!), I book a return in the other direction and don't use the outbound leg, but it's no good for Dublin to Europe. :( I live in the North so don't suppose I can open an Irish bank account.

    entropay will give you a card in £, $ or €
  • Be careful when loading the PO card with your bank debit card !! I loaded £200 at the Post Office with my Llloyds Visa debit card and got charged an additional £3 by the bank (as well as the PO £3 charge) for a 'foreign currency' transaction. Argued at length but they sticking to their guns and charging me .... NICE .

    Yeah, but you're probably better off going to entropay.com and getting a virtual electron card.

    This is a great tip. Just set my account easy peasy and booked my Ryanair flight saving £40 booking fee!

    For anyone in any doubt about EntroPay, I saw that it is run bt the Maltese Bank of Valletta, and this immediately put my mind at rest. I have been to malta many times on business and have some very high Governmental contacts, so I was confident to give this a go. And it works!

    Top tip, £40 saved, and as I say better 'inmypocketnottheirs'!!

    Cheers :beer::beer:

    I know this is an old thread that's just been added to, but remember the Electron card will not be fees free on Ryanair as of 1st January. You will need a pre-paid Mastercard then to avoid them. Plenty of threads on the best of these if you search the forums.

    Well spotted and thanks!

    Entropay also do a prepaid masterCard.

    Which Ryanair also accepts.

    Just set up an account for this - card should be with me within 3-4 days. Although there's a one-off charge of £4.99 for the card, it will still save me £25 on booking fees.
