just sticking on my halo here for a moment :A, but wouldn't it have basically been equal to stealing ??

i know its their mistake on the website, but its a bit like going to the cashpoint and asking for £200 in 20 x£10, but receiving 20 x£20 (or similar).....

you know its wrong, but you'd be in 2 minds whether to give it back....

in the currency exchange case, you all know the rate is wrong !!;)

Your analogy is wrong though. It would only work if the cash machine was advertising "Withdraw £20 get charged £10". Plus someone would have to pack it up and post it to us so it can be hardly stealing.

I will be really annoyed if the cash advance fee isn't reversed when the amount is refunded to my card.

u know what i mean though
u ask for £200, and u get £400, but your account is only debited £200....

u are 'theiving' from the bank... but its their c0ck up!!

The company offered a price/rate and you took them up on their offer to purchase at the said price, wouldnt say thats stealing.

I see where IM is coming from as he is right in saying that we all knew it was not quite right, I mean the advanced purchase are still in the 1.60's.

But it was worth a punt as it may of been a short offer due to some hedging (going for a moral case here) so as the saying goes if it sounds to good to be true....

i went to buy $$ on that site, saw a great rate, and purchased..

that's all i did.. if i didn't read what was going on here, and planning which is the best rate and when to buy, then it definately isn't stealing..

if i don't follow things, how do i know they've made a mistake

i've already had phone call canceling too... boooo!! :(

If I had of bought $300 and they sent me $600 then he has a point.

    His analogy is wrong though.

Blimey folks. A busy morning with the rate!
What bunch of thieving gypsy b'stards you are too ;)

I would of jumped all over that rate too. Their !!!! up. Who cares if we knew it wasn't quite right! Most companies out there wouldn't blink an eyelid at 5hitting on joe public. When the boots on the other foot we have to take advantage :)
Can you imagine the panic that must of swept through their office?!?!

Interesting how the rate shot up due to some good figures but all it took for it to collapse back down was a "report"
  • sorry but i agree with IM.
you all know what the current best rates are out there as you are talking about it on here,
you saw that currency express had made a balls up by advertising wrong, so you quickly started ordering currency.
i don't think i would call it stealing though.
say it was your local poor post office, thats close to being shut down, if they advertised wrong would you quickly go and buy stacks of dollars to send them under, or would you tell the poor old lady that she has made a mistake
