Hi I'm going to Florida for the first time in May. Can you please advise me as to whether using my American Express card whilst there would be very expensive?0

posted this elsewhere, but will post here in case anyone didnt know.
On Saturday we were looking to book currency, it had dropped late on Friday so the rates for collection outside of London was somewhere between 1.44 to 1.46. Tesco could still deliver for 1.48 for this week.
Called our local Thomsons and asked their rate after the mother in law had got them to beat local rates slightly by half a cent and they asked whats the best rate you have seen, being slow that day I said 1.48 they said they would match it
then they didnt have enough cash in store so called another branch whats the best rate you have seen still being slow I said 1.485, how much do you want came the reply over 2k ah I dont have that much but could let you have 1600 for 1.50. Bank rate was only 1.5016, so took the load she had left and then called the first place who gave me the same rate. only wish I had said 1.51 or higherbut very happy in the end, still not as good as the 2.06 we got a few years ago but happy at the current price.

And What If the Pound Were Undervalued?Sterling is undervalued against the euro. Just about every trading desk that I talk to seems to think so. However, very few of them tell me that they will be willing to back the pound until the general election is over.

With the vote out of the way, they say, the arguments to support the pound will start to gather traction and you could easily see a 10 percent move or more.
It's an idea that sits in strong contrast to the bearish sentiment that has dominated the financial press over recent weeks. However, strip out the electoral uncertainty and the picture becomes clearer and more positive.
Now, let's not kid ourselves that the British economy is not in a terrible state - it is. However, lots of people that crunch the numbers in the private sector are telling me that they think that the figures being put out by the Office of National Statistics are far too negative.
Take a look at the private sector survey data, I am told, and you will see a more positive and realistic view of what's going on.

Just to say that Mrs Monkfish succesfully completed the half-marathon on Sunday, despite little or no training, in a far better time than she ever imagined.:T
Thanks to all those that sponsored her and her friends, and thanks also to those that took the time out to just have a little look around the charity website (see my sig) :beer:Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
