Natwest Mortgage - Waiting for final decision - any advice?!

I took out a NatWest mortgage a couple of years ago. It also went to underwriting, then it went to senior underwriting. At one point I got a call to say they will definitely give me 10k less than I had asked for and the senior underwriter was looking at it to see if I should be granted the full amount!
Patience is difficult when big decisions are being made. At that point I pulled strings and the mortgage was granted within hours. They had told me the senior underwriter could take 48 hours to make the decision.
Speaking to a NatWest business manager this week who told me that they were scrutinising applications carefully at the moment. Could explain why it is taking slightly longer to get your decision.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Don't bank on anything being agreed until you have your mortgage offer in your hands stating that they will loan you the full amount you have requested based upon a purchase price of the property which matches the agreed price. You have to be patient - lenders are being much more cautious these days. Even if they have approved the mortgage, things may change when you get the valuation through if it doesn't match up to what you have agreed to pay for the property! I appreciate it's a difficult position to be in and hard to be patient but it's a long process. Oh yes, and then you have to be patient whilst the solicitors do their work too! Hope it all works out for you.0

! I have a letter from my husband's employer stating that he now earns a minimum of x amount each week (but this has only just come into effect so wont show up on the payments) Do you think this may help if its needed?
It is amazing the amount of people who got a pay rise just before they apply for a mortgage in the last few years....wheres eric?:rotfl:It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Great news - found on Wednesday that they have instructed a surveyor!!!! I'm incredibly happy!!
And yes I know........ I'm not counting my chickens... until I do get the final mortgage offer! But I am very very happy that it has gone through the underwriting!!
That was the part I was worried about! I'm not a surveyor but I can't see any problems at all - the house is definately worth more than what we have paid so I'm hopeful it will be plain sailing!! But again, i'm not banking on it until we have the final offer!
But I'm now very excited!!!0 -

That's what I thought too until Natwest valued it at 20k under what I agreed - and I had to cough up the differency in extra deposit...:(0
