  • Hi Lucy.

Thanks, i know hoping for a smooth ride now, but because it is an auction property, their solicitors are really spot on, and i now think my solicitor is scared of me so doing things extra quick lol.
We went to see the house again yesterday, and we are very excited.
Thanks for you replies, they have all helped a lot.
    cheers

If it is any consolation at all I know EXACTLY how you feel!!!

One thing i would say is dont be afraid to give them a ring with your reference number - they were always so nice and helpful. Just ask them for an update as to where you are. They told me the decision would be made by 5pm the next day - and I phoned back 5pm the next day and they told me it was agreed - so at least I knew and didnt have to wait for the post everyday!!!

Good luck - thinking of you and do let me know how you get on!

Yesterday I had the text saying it's been agreed subject to the valuation report and minutes later that they had instructed the surveyor! I'm SUPER impressed with Natwests service!

Thanks for advice, roll on the survey!

Excellent news!!! Again - dont be afraid to give them a call maybe on Friday to see if the surveyor has submitted their report - they wont be able to tell you what the report actually says - but they will be able to tell you the actual value amount!

    Good luck!!!!

good luck to you all ,

Natwest are very good & very quick at arranging things.

We have exchanged now & packing of the boxes in progress.

3weeks from application to exchange of contracts, solicitors were on the ball to which makes a pleasant change...

    Regards

The surveyor gave us a 'courtesy call' last night to let us know he is surveying this morning and whether there is anything in particular we want him to look at! He said it'll be dictated this afternoon/Monday morning and will be out in the afternoon post!
  • Hi Lucy,

  • We applied for a natwest mortgage in branch over 5 weeks ago & received the in-priciple letter upon leaving. Since then & over 30 phone calls, faxes & emails we still dont know if we have a mortgage. It appears that their auditors have our file & they cant/wont confirm anything. At each phone call from us (they never call us) we are told something else is required or they cant read something clearly. The branch mortgage advisor who set up our case has been anything but helpful. We feel we are going to loose our house shortly. Do we contact the branch manager or someone higher up the ladder? The mortgage centre just fob us off with more stories (we will phone & confirm all is ok today !!... that was yesterday did they phone of course not we call again to be told its now its friday!!).
Please has anybody got any advise to help us?

    Hi,
I'm sorry you are having trouble. I did ring the call centre everyday finding out what is happening. what are they saying is wrong? our branch lady was really good, she took copies off all my partners bank statements, payslips and passport and sent the them to their mortgage people, they recieved them within 3 days. thats all we ever had to supply personally. the solicitor did everything else. i only ever recieved one call from natwest and that was to confirm the mortgage was ok after the valuation/survy. where is your local branch that you applied?
    sam
  • Hi Sam thanks for coming back to me

We have had to supply copies of things multi times.... they cant read them? was the excuse we have been told.... then oh they havent got our passports...back again....now its at the internal auditors & they wont say when we will hear. We have banked with then for over twenty years. The branch advisor seems to be getting the same fob off i though their job was to smooth the process we are doing all the chasing

We applied a few weeks ago for a Natwest mortgage, got a homebuyers done independently because we wanted to know how much/if any work needed doing asap. Hence just ordered a basic valuation through natwest. Our report is great - cosmetic overhaul needed (we knew that), and no problems of any importance. The valuation was done last Friday, received it today, and with the underwriters now.

I know the valuation came in at our offer... anyone know whether underwriters often have a "problem" with the surveyor's valuation?? Obviously it's case-by-case, but just wondering if there are any general ideas. We are desperate to know asap, as we don't want to get the electrics checked and tell the solicitors to start the searches until we know this.
