Uninsured car parked in front of my house

Lum if your friend is not in the motor trade and has taken a policy out to get cheaper insurance on his Porsche he will get a shock if he ever makes a claim...
He owns a garage, proper legitimate business and everything (hence being able to afford a Porsche in the first place), so I think he's safe.
Not sure who he's with to be honest.
Also naijapower, I'm sorry if I'm not coming across very nicely in this thread, I have nothing against you. I'm just pointing out that however much of an antisocial !!!!! scumbag this guy may or may not be, there's a pretty good chance he's doing nothing actually illegal, you do have my sympathies but sadly that doesn't really help much0 -
I seem to remember a similar thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1636471 Nearly skidded into your property while driving on snow, my oh my, how horrific!
I suspect the only thing he may be doing illegal is if he is selling the vans on and not doing the appropriate things regarding income tax etc. But then that's hardly your business really, if he is doing that and gets caught then he gets caught. If he does work on the vans, then this is perfectly legal so long as he is not doing so in the course of business (i.e. being paid for it). Unfortunately the road outside your house doesn't belong to you and all you can do is politely ask him not to, to which he may respond by doing it more often.
anewman.. you're the last person I expected to see arguing for a live-and-let-live approach! Good for you!
This thread has a strong whiff of snobbery about it.. it's like a real life episode of Keeping Up Appearances.
A mental image of this poor man is forming.. overweight, a beer belly bulging from a greasy "white" vest, a spanner in one hand, jam butty in the other, and a fag juggled between the two.. i like the sound of the fellow.. ideal neighbour material.. and a useful pair of hands should your clutch plates ever need changing.. all the very best to him!!! when he's tired of living near you, he's very welcome to move into this street!
the titles on modern housing developments often have "restrictive covenants" attached to them. these typically forbid various activities.. e.g. the keeping of poultry, the planting of leylandii, the parking of commercial vans, caravans, etc.. over the years, these covenants are invariably flaunted, and become essentially unenforceable.. i hope that's true for your neighbour's sake!!0 -

Moreover, why should i suffer inconvenience cos of another mans' stupidity
hes stupid because his van wont start?...work permit granted!0 -
If you have nothing better to do wait till the bailiffs come again and let them know who owns that van outside your house
lol.

I genuinely think you're making something over nothing over the smoke, and skidding on snow/ice (both of which could happen to any driver, even you - although most sensible drivers would avoid driving in icy conditions) - simply because you are unhappy about him parking outside your house. I'll never understand why people think they own the piece of road outside their house and have any more rights over it than any other person. You could go park outside his house.
If the smoke so readily gets in your house in a manner you can't control anyway it must be freezing and cost a bomb to heat in winter!0 -

Nonsense.
They just pay out."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Not on a "Road Risk" Motor Trade Policy which is the sort of policy a trader without a premises has. The types of companies that offer Road Risks Only policies eg MMA and Tradex etc etc know they have people taking out these types of policies that are not traders. These Insurers are renowned for looking for ways to not pay out for claims.
If you put a claim in before they will even deal with the claim they will ask for proof you are a trader eg your books, adverts etc. If its an additional driver that is supposedly an employee they will ask for pay slips and / or your PAYE returns.
They definately do not just pay out...
If you have a proper Motor Trade Policy eg you have premises and are with someone like Allianz, NU or Axa they do not normally ask for proof of trading0 -

Some new development..i have just spoken to another neighbour who has confirmed he too has also complained to the council. Like i have tried to explain even though some people have chosen to misinterprete my post. The key issue is dumping vehicles that look unroadworthy and unisured. We (other neighbours) have no prob if visitors etc park outside our homes. The prob is when someone choses to hog up your outside area for weeks on end with his vehicle.
If there was nothing wrong, then surely the council would not have elected to get involved and speak to him; also Police would not have removed one of his vehicles which was stationary for 6 months (no movement)..0
